My first tele is on its way!!!

hey there -- i just joined up and am very impressed with your website. I am 19 years old and have been playing a mexican strat for about 6 years. I love country music and have recently become enamored with country guitarists like Keith Urban and Brad Paisley - along with studio legends like Dan Huff. THEY ALL PLAY TELES!! coincidence? i didnt think so, so i went down to the guitar shop and fell in love with them. it took me all summer to save up enough money (i am in college :? )
then, it was time to choose. it took me over 2 months to decide, but i got a used 2000 american standard, 3 tone sunburst, and maple neck. it looks brand new and i got it for $480!!!! it has the deltatoneA pickups, not the noiseless.....which do you guys like better?? i bought locking tuners....any other upgrades i should know about? did i get a good deal? thanks for your help!!

congrats on your purchase! i don't know for certain, but i think you got a pretty good deal. i'd like to hear more about those pickups, i thought "delta tone" was just a special kind of pot, not a pickup too.

Wellcome to the board! After spending a couple of days here, you'd sell that "other" fender guitar and get another Tele....

I think you've got a good deal; that's a great price for a used MIA (we call MIA the American series, MIM the ones made in Mexico, and MIJ / CIJ for made in Japan or crafted in Japan) In average, I've seen them go for 500-600 bucks, depending on its condition.

Good luck and keep on twanging!

Another Conversion!

You'll love it. The only 2 things I did to my MIA (Made In America) Tele, was to go to Noiseless. The buzz was just too much for me. And I put in some of Fontana's saddles. They make a MIA 6 saddle bridge to 3 barrel bridge. I don't know what else I could do to make it more perfect. I would play like it is for a few months just to make sure. I played mine a lot for 6 months just make sure I would notice a real difference in the changes I made. I did. This is the best place for info......sometimes too much info

Welcome to The Club

You got a wonderful deal in my opinion! You'll love it- it's a versatile tone machine that'll take you to places you wanna go and beyond! I personally like the straight single coils; I used to be bothered by the buzz, but learned to live with it. One of the band members used to be bothered by it too..I sure miss him sometimes! Seriously, welcome and you done good, first time out! Now play dat ting!

Good on Ya !!!

In a couple of days I to will have join the ranks of Tele owners (pets?), as well.

I meandered into this forum while gathering info on Tele's, and found the people here be a great bunch of folk.

The amount of info they share can be overwhelming, and (due to personal tastes and experiences) contradictory at times. But the wade through the deeper waters reveals a wealth of knowlege that is difficult to achieve without many trials, many many errors, and sometimes :( considerable expense.

I'd take off my hat and salute all here :D ...

if I had a hat !

Your new Tele sounds like a real Beauty, RaginCajun. Don't forget to send us pictures, now.

Congrats
