Broadcaster #0145 question and more...
I reckon this question is really for Fuzzy, but here it is: I was just over at the Weber page looking at all the bueatiful old guitars, when I noticed that Broadcaster 145 looks just like my new tele. I finished it in the white blonde with a black gaurd just because I thought it would look cool (like some Jimmy Bryant pics I had seen), and went with the flatpole Fralin for the Broadcaster tone. I really didn't know if they made 'em like that back then. (White blonde/black gaurd) Was #145 refinished?
Hey, that reminds me, on the Reranch page (in the descriptions of the colors) they say that there was never a "butterscotch blonde" finish. Were all those butterscotch guitars originaly white and the clearcoat just yellowed out?
That's really the look I was going for on my tele: A '52 in '65. I didn't want the relic thing, but I didn't want it too new looking either, so I did the white blonde but with a few coats of the tinted clear. It's not white, but its not butterscotch either. (If I ever get my camera to work aain I swear I'll post some pictures)
So, coming full circle, is #145 all original and well cared for, all original with no clear coat, a refinish, or did Fender make white ones that old?
