CIJ Capri Orange with matching headstock

Saw this on ebay, apparently they custom ordered of a bunch of these CIJ teles. Rather cool IMO.

He says: These will likely never be available again -- nobody else in the world has them, and the only other way would be to have the Fender USA Custom Shop build you one, and then we're talking 2-3K

Wow.... that's a nice looking guitar John! That would go nicely with my Orange amps!

Pricing seems to be a little high but like he says, find another...

$850 without a case seems a little stiff to me for a CIJ Tele. It's definitely a cool color. If there is enough demand, I'm sure another Fender dealer will order some made in the color. Fender will make whatever color you want as long as you are willing to commit to a minimum number of instruments (100 I believe).

well if Fender Japan liked the color whose to say they won`t build some for the domestic market? Interesting they could work out a deal with FJ for a limited run for the American market right under the noses of F/USA. Wonder how they will react to that, if they do nothing then why wouldn`t other shops do the same?

Another indication that the early '80s Fenders are becoming more in demand and rising in value. This is essentially a '81 reissue.

I've emailed the seller, he is only an hour away from me. I love that color. There was a similar but more metallic orange color a few years ago that almost made me buy a guitar just for the looks.

Dangerous for me to be looking at ebay auctions while I wait for my guitar...very dangerous.

What makes you say it's an '81? Compared to how he says it's a '71? Just curious........

I believe the Orange You refer to

is "Capri Orange" one of the "World Colors" they put out
in the 80's.

Because an '81 Tele is pretty much unchanged from a '70s Tele and that color is from the '81 "International" series.
