2002 Pink Paisleys...opinions?
Hello everyone,
I'm a bass player, but I just bought this guitar from a guy in Texas and it should be here in a few days. Just wondering what you tele guys think of these guitars. This will be my 1st tele six string, I love my tele basses, and I have one of those "other" fender guitars. Are the electronics in these things OK? I've read in this forum that some of the mij can be a little cheesy in that reguard. True with the Paisleys? Am I going to be changing out pups and switch to make into a good guitar? Any input would be helpful. Thanks, Ken |

Wait till you get the guitar, then play it hard and long and make up your own opinion. If you like the pickups, then they are keepers. By asking before you get it, you are only building a bias in one or the other direction. If people say "They are OK, but..." then when you get it you are going to be looking so hard for those "but"s that you fail to enjoy a great instrument.. Haven't played one myself, but I am sure it is a great guitar. Trust your instincts and make up your own opinion on this one! Then should you decide something needs doing after all, then come back here for advice. Congrats on you first Tele! Be sure to post pictures if you can. Geir :)

Thanks for your thoughts
on the subject everyone. I guess I should have said that I didn't read anything on this forum about the mij teles untill after I sent the check, but it wouldn't have stoped me anyway. I've been thinking about buying one of these guitars for a while now, because I like the sound of a tele, and I also have a '68 Paisley bass. You're right of course about playing it for a while, I may think it's perfect just like it is. Thanks again for your input, Ken[/img]

Played one last week
While I didn't get to gig with it I did play it for about 30 minutes through a couple of different amps.
I really liked it and thought that the overall quality was better than the Am. Series tele I also played that day. Your results may vary. good Luck with it. |

basswood body and they come with MIJ pick ups. If it is like my 2002 Fender strat it will have the flimsy pots and switch, not a problem so far. Oddly enough I never see those guitars here in this city in Japan.... must all be Stateside.

I've got 2 Paisleys for the time being.
I've never been happier with any new guitar than I have been with my Paisley. Admittedly, yes, I always love a guitar when I get a new one. The question is this. How long before it wears off??? I got my Paisley last August. It became my number one then, and remains so to this day. Have I strayed at all?? Yep....but only for a couple of songs. *L*
I loved the guitar right out of the box. I am thinking about changing the pup's in my number one. I'm not doing anything to the second one because I'll be selling it. I got it in a trade and can't justify keeping it. I really can't complain with the guitar at all. There's really nothing wrong with the pup's that are in it. I've just got the bug to change them. (hint: this board will give you G.A.S. bad *L*) Like I said, whether it's the same with you or not is yet to be seen, but I was (and still am) thrilled with my Paisley. Joel

I got one used, with the thought that I was going to have to hot rod the pups and hardware. Turns out, this guitar is great right out of the box. I've kept this stock except for a Kiwi touch-up on the neck.
