The Players In Nashville

I recently booked a week long trip in Nashville from 5/28-6/4. I had a hard time deciding on whether or not to go and the deciding factor was seeing Brent Mason at 3rd and Lindsley's. Well I just clicked on their site and it looks like they just recently removed the Players bookings for this Tuesday and next Tuesday. WHAT A DRAG!!!!! I'm so upset. I had planned on doing alot there but seeing Brent was def. going to be the highlight. Now I'm wondering if I should still go. Another reason I had a hard time deciding to go or not was that I was heading out there alone. I wonder if I can cancel my trip without too many fees. I booked it on Expedia.

sorry!

that happens alot, between the five members of The Players there are often things that come up for one of them and then the entire show must be cancelled. This week, May 30, the reason is that three of the guys - Brent being one of them - have sessions booked with Willie Nelson starting Tuesday the 30th, and the producer has already let them know that Tuesday and Wednesday they are expected to get 30 songs done and they will be in the studio until midnight both days, something they had no idea they would be doing until two weeks ago when they cancelled. Brent did set up dates on June 27, July 18 and 25th, and something could come up to change those dates. The past week Brent and I went to Vancouver and Victoria British Columbia to film a new instructional dvd of 150 guitar licks - it actually is computer software I believe. Too much money to turn down versus the $100 - $150 he might make in a night at Third and Lindsley. His cartage set up costs him $85. so he has to minus that from the above amount. They just split the money collected at the door between the five of them. It is horrible to hear that your trip has been ruined and having dealt with expedia myself, the odds of getting that money back are slim, even changing the date and still going will incur change fees.
When they started doing these little local performances in 1999 they had no idea people from all over the country would try to schedule trips to Nashville to see them! Their priority is their recording work and if called for masters or televised programming they have to change their dates around quite often. There is still lots of great entertainment to see if you come here this week.

Here's an idea, a concert DVD "Brent Mason and the Players Live at 3rd and Lindsley's".

I'll buy one! 8)

Do NOT trust websites!!! It might be true, but it might not.

IMO, you should contact them before you change your plans.

Well if Brent's wife Julie(bluewatergirl) says it's true I'd believe her if I was you.

I am at 3rd and Lindsey June 1st

I wont be in the same universe as Brent's guitar playing, but I am playing for a guy who is showcasing for some labels at 6pm June 1st and would love to have a fellow TDPRI member in the audience. Any one else who can make it that night would be great. We need the support!

I'm Here

Yes...I went through with my trip and am finally here in Nashville. I'll be here tonight 5/28 and leave next Sunday evening. Of course my band played last night in Sacramento, CA and I finally got to sleep at 4am this morning only to get up at 6am to fly out by 8. I'm beat! Checked into my hotel about 6pm Nashville time after flying most of the day and just got me a 3 hour nap. So now maybe I'll go check out some music tonight and grab a bite to eat.

I'm disappointed that Brent and the gang had to cancel but I really do understand. Guess I'll just have to try to book another trip soon back this way.

I did contact 3rd and L's directly to verify they did cancel and the guy had said they are trying to set up a live recording there. That would be killer!

June 1st I saw that listing for Show Dog at 3rd and L. I will prob. go check that out.

Joel Terry? Where do I find this guy. Any advice on where to see the hot pickers out please post some info right away. I plan on seeing the Don Kelley band for sure. Maybe tonight. I think they're playing.

That's me--one of Nashville's illustrious pickers. Yes, sir--a visit to Nashville would be an unfathomably foolish waste of time if you didn't hear me play.

snckxxx...snckxxxxk...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA AAAAAAA!

(To think I was mentioned in the same thread as Brent and The Players. This serves as proof that cosmological entropy is alive and well. Or, I suppose, to put it more aptly, dying and sick. )

Chuck Gatlin and Mike Dickerson

Hey Mike....you responded to my post earlier this week about the showcase with Chuck Gatlin. I met you right after it ended. My name is Dante. I asked you about your guitar and Dr. Z amp. AWESOME job again. You are a monster picker! I see that the Red Iguana has Chuck listed for next weekend. You mentioned he's there this weekend. I'm hoping it's true and you just didn't mix up the dates. I really want to see you pick some more.

That was you!!!

Hey Dante! I didnt catch on that you was my TDPRI brother when we were talking. Thanks for the kind words and thanks a bunch for coming out. The Red Iguana dates are June 9 and 10. Sorry for the confusion. I sure wish it would have worked out for you to be in town when we play there. Again, thanks for taking the time to come out to the show.

Mike....I didn't know it was you either until I was reading the post again and noticed your name. If I come back to town I'll find out where you're playing. It was a pleasure seeing you pick. Good luck with the gigs.
