Hey, FUZZY...

I have a set of those in an Epi LP that I'm replacing with a set of Duncan Seth Lovers. I'm gonna use the neck pup, though in a project that I'm working on (I just posted about it earlier).

Maybe the poles are reversed cos the magnet is in the same direction, but the poles are on opposite sides? I mean the bridge poles are on the back side of the magnet, but the rhythm poles are on the front... I don't know; maybe if the magnets were placed opposite each other the pups would be out of phase when played together?

That reminds me of one of my tellys

Nice deal! I'd love to have a 2x bucker telecaster.

Reminds me of my squier refin humbucker'd re-necked partsocaster. Love the 'bucker, er, the black one. First was a dimarzio paf but now i gotta jb or something!

Jes got back

From the TELE-shack.

I jes did an A/B twixt my latest Tele and my present favorite (yer ears still hurt Mandy HEE! HEE!) TELECASTER.

Purdy sound from this one but no "Horse shoe". Very mellow and Gypsin soundin. Loud but borin. Very liddo bite and/or dirt. Twang waz missin. Felt good lika Tele should but will not be one I pick up a lot. I did detect a liddo outta faze sound. Could it be the reversed pole mag-gan-nutes on them poles or jes my mag-gin-nate-shun? I haff heard it on TELECASTERs with the poles mag-gan-nutes reversed.

A hoe bunch different than this monster TWANG machine:

Oh well, sorry tew inner-rupt yer day but mine are filled with TELECASTERs and related stuff.

Haff a good one yer own seff.

Hey man. you are right I believe. The 'Peter Green Mod' consists of taking one HB pup out (usually the neck) and flipping the magnet upside down, to reverse polarity. Then, when used in parallel (middle on an LP) the 'out of phase' Peter Green sound in obtainable.

I tried it on my LP with stock Gibson pups and promptly undid it. Sounded like a constipated duck IMHO. I much prefer the original Gibson middle sound. When I want a strat, i'll play my strat.

It did give me a good opportunity to dip the pups in wax. That worked wonders, no more squeeling.

SQUEEEEEL!!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!!!

I hate it when that happens.

But congrats on another tele. I always liked that configuration after seeing TheWho on their first farewell tour in 82? Pete's was a Schecter.

magnet polarity

From a physicists point of view - the poles in the two coils of the same humbucker should be of opposite polarisation. Remember that humbuckers were invented to eliminate the hum (hum - bucker). Hum comes from elecromagnetic radiation working on the coils. If you connect two coils of opposite winding in series (as in a humbucker) or in parallel (as in the "quack" positions of a strat with reversed middle pickup, for that matter), the hum cancels out. However, if you had magnets in them with the same polarity, most of the signal would cancel out as well (out-of-phase sound). So you just use a row of magnets of opposite polarity in the second coil, which reverses the current induced in the coil by the oscillation of the strings and all is fine. Standard humbuckers are larger than single coils, cover a "longer" part of the strings and therefore capture less high frequencies, but generally have more output due to the two coils.

So, normally your two humbuckers should not be reversed in magnetic polarity, but have two rows of opposite polarity each.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Karsten
