USPS Priority Mail question???

Last Thursday 7/24 I sent out a Postal Money order via the Post Office...It was sent Priority Mail (2-3 days) with delivery confirmation...

It has yet to arrive at its destination in Arkansas...It was sent from Michigan???

When i called the postal service they would just inform me that there is no Guarantee for 2-3 day service...

I have sent first class mail greater distances in less time...i have sent mail oversees in less time!

How long might this take?????

I sent the money order out for some PA cabinets that i hoped to have in my possesion before this weekend....that certainly won't happen now!!!

I'm sure the guy i'm buying the cabinets from thinks "I'm pulling his leg" when when i tell him i sent the $$$$ out last Thursday.....

Signed,

Frustrated!!!

Priority Mail

Usually, I have very good luck with priority mail. 2 to 4 days from accross the country. New York to Washington. I have had two cases where it took well over a week from half that distance. The first time, i thought the eperson I sent $$ to was pulling my leg. The second time, someone thought I was trying to do the same. The postal service is usually excellent. I'm sure they get ghost's in the machine jsut like every other business. Hang in there. As long as it was addressed properly, it should arrive shortly.

In my experience Priority Mail can take up to two weeks. I've had better luck using FedEx for small things....and I only use UPS for packages.

yep, priority is usually quick and reliable, but very occasionally something gets stuck, and it can be more than a week.

I've used Priority Mail a lot and...

...best case, it gets there next day, worst case more than 30 days - both have happened to me more than once.

USPS PM

I've been forunate I guess with Priority Mail overall, both sending and receiving items and mail.
I sent a pedal to Hawaii once, the guy got it the next day!
But on occasion it does take longer than normal ( usually 2-3 days) but sometimes I've had it take a few weeks.
Can you scan the receipt for your MO and send it to the guy you're buying the gear from?
Worst case if the MO does get lost/stolen, you have to wait 30 days before you can file to get your money back.
Good luck!

Hope I can help...I answer this question almost daily..hehe..
Priority mail is usually 2-3 days destination...but "not guarenteed"....guarenteed would go under "Express Mail"..which cost more $13.65 for a money order, but be there overnight , guarenteed or money back.
At our office , Priority Mail is HOT mail...we deliver ASAP....so I can not figure what went wrong...my best guess is maybe(?) incorrect address/zip...that happens a lot...more than most people think....I see it daily on USPS packages/envelopes,,etc..etc..and im the one looking up names in phone books...to get to the right destination.
You have one thing going for you....the "Delivery Confirmation"....take that lil green receipt and go to the usps website and put that tracking number in the system...will tell you if it got delivered and when..etc..
Hope this helps..good luck.

"No Priority" Mail

Priority Mail is very very spotty. I use it a lot and let me tell you the average delivery time for this "2 to 3 day" service has been 7 to 10 days in the real world. And, I can tell you this too... Tracking slows it down more!

We moved to Wyoming 3 years ago. For the first 2 1/2 years I still owned my business in Texas. We used Priority Mail and tracking to send things back and forth between Jackson, Wyoming and San Antonio, Texas. We saw 5 days, 10 days, 20 days and every once and great while we saw 3 days.

The post office always said, "well, it's not guaranteed" let me tell you, it's not only not guaranteed its a big fat lie. The truth is, you get very nearly as fast if not faster service with 1st class mail. We did tests and 1st class beat priority mail by 2 to 3 days on average.

Do we still use Priority Mail? Yep, when we want tracking without spending $12 for Fedex. And, if you've got a package that weighs between 1 1/2 and 2 lbs then Priority Mail cost the same as Parcel Post, sometimes less.

By the way, the tracking is worthless too. All it tells you is that it was sent on X day and nothing else until AFTER its been received. But it makes a nice way to confirm that it was indeed sent.

You shouldn't start worrying about you mail being lost until it's been over 2 weeks.

Good Luck.

In well over 100 transactions......

.....I've never had even one issue with Priority Mail. Usually there within 2 days.

I've sent stuff from Utah on a Saturday morning and was in upstate New York Monday afternoon.

I do use FedEx Ground nowadays when sending packages, and they've been pretty quick.

Too many horror stories associated with UPS (my family and friends' first-hand accounts, about 1million internet accounts). I don't use them.

I'm surprised in your situation, given my 100+ with nary a problem.

can't understand it!

in well over 1000 internet transactions, in which over half have been priority both ways (payment to, and goods from) i have had one problem with a package. it arrived broken, but on time.

that's at least 1500 times, with 1 failure.

now ups on the other hand...

My last package with the Post Office took 17 days, I had already refunded the guys money back, if fact, the package and my refund arrived the same day. Thankfully he was honest and sent my money back.

Priority mail is the biggest ripoff out there... It's nothing more than 1st Class with a piece of tape on the package.

3-4 days, they say, but don't guarantee it. Shoot, I can get it there tomorrow, if you don't ask me to guarantee it.... :D

I saw a TV show where they did a test sent out packages priority and regular mail from different parts of the USA. The regular mail package took about 5-7 days and priority took 3-4 days as an average.

I think the more tracking numbers and confirmations and extra stuff just slows it down the more people have to look at it and touch it chances are it can get slowed down or lost easier.

The zip codes are the most important thing when using the mail. Be sure and print the zip code so a 6 yr old can read it.

I've sent over 100 priority mails and never had one lost or that took over 3 days to arrive.

Today is Day 11 and its still not there yet...

I went to the post office and they filled out some form and said they would try to follow up on the route it may have taken and check the sorting machines etc. to see if something "ate" my priority mail envelope.

If it doesn't show up soon i have to fill out more forms to get a refund on my Postal Money Order....I can't get refunded until 60 days has passed from the date of issue...The post office will be holding my money hostage...unless it shows up in the meantime.

so now i don't have PA cabinets and I don't have the money to resend to this guy...and i won't see my money until sometime late September.

Signed,

Getting more frustrated all the time.
