Holey Esquire Batman!
This '57 Esquire on the bay, with a bunch of extra screw holes around the top of the body. Guy thinks it was some type of pickguard. musta been a big a$$ pickguard! Nice pics. I'd take it, despite the extra holes :D See here: * |

That's a beauty. Got me thinking though. It'd be pretty cool playing out live without the pickguard on it. I like that look.

It's kind of cool, even with the holes.
I had my *** Tele without a pickguard for years, but I had to fit a shaved down humbucker pickup bobbin into the wire route because my fingers kept ending up in that, and I was afraid I might injure my hand. This one, I guess I'd install a single layer black pickguard, and probably find some screws that're the right size for those holes, and just leave them there. I wonder if the holes can be countersunk without chipping up the old paint. But "Current bid: US $4,050.00" and "Reserve not met", so I'm obviously out of the picture. Imagine what it'd go for if it wasn't full of extra holes! Pete |

I believe those extra holes could be used for one of these......
http://www.moollon.com/gt_home/guitar/narcisnc_p01.html The holes seem to line up for it. |
