What are "Extrad" Telecasters?
What makes these different than other MIJ Teles? Thanks.

They are THE top of the line Japanese instruments 100% nitro and attention paid to the smallest details. The extrad stands for extratraditional.
If you find one buy it they are rare.

I have an ExTrad strat and it is a great guitar. Got it in Japan a few years ago and would love to get more but they just don`t show up very often. I do know if I bought one today I`d pay a lot more than I did for the one I have. prices on older FJs is gettin crazy in Japan. Theres a rosewood tele on yahoo Japan going for about $1500.oo. You should expect to pay more for an ExTrad than a regular production model...so a fair price to me may be different than for somebody else...but I`d pay up to $750.oo for another one.

Speaking of Rosewood Telecasters.........
I think $1500 is about the going price for the MIJ solid rosewoods models on Ebay these days. There is currently one listed with a starting price of $2795 but I think the seller needs a reality check.

That model is available from Ishibashi for around $724. Add about $120 for shipping for a total of $844.
That Ebay guitar is in Japan and the seller wants $100 for shipping so it would be cheaper to buy one from Ishibashi. The veneer models can be identified by the black painted sides and black painted back of the neck. The veneer models actually have nicer looking wood grain than many of the solid rosewood models. Most of the solid rosewood models I have seen in person or pictures have bodies made of six pieces of rosewood. Sometimes the pieces are poorly matched.
