A new tele lover...
Hi! I've just started to play the guitar about a month ago, but the acoustic guitar I have is very very old, so it's pretty difficult for me to move my fingers, to sound other chords, etc...
So I thought it was the right time (now that i'm in love with guitars) to buy one. I'm in love with the tele, and I'm really unsure about the guitar I have to buy. I almost have the money to buy a fender std telecaster (those mexican made for 450 euros, something like 570 USD). A friend told me it was a quite expensive guitar to start with, and he said that I shoud go for a Squier startocaster, or something like that, ore affordable! But I really want a tele! So, my question is, is the std telecaster a good guitar to start playing guitar?! And another "silly" quiestion. Wich amp should I buy to start?! Thanks!!! |

Nothing silly at all.
I would say get the telecaster. 450 euro is not too much at all, especially if your serious about it. They are great guitars, and chances are you'll still be playing it a few years from now, while this might not be the case with the squier. Also, don't forget squier make a tele as well |

Vlad,
Ole Fuzzy has the right answer there. He's suggesting that you get a Squier Telecaster. In particular, the Affinty version. Why? Becuase it's a great guitar for very low money and it'll leave you with enough to get a decent amp. I'd suggest the VOX Pathfinder at first for the same reasons. Also, Fuzzy is suggesting that it's a good idea not to get too much money into things at first because you may find that you don't like playng guitar and therefore you wouldn't have spent much money finding out. Also, if you find that you really do like playing guitar, then you'll have something to play while you save up for a better guitar and amp. I think the MIM standards are just great and one of those may be you choice for the next guitar you get after ayear or so. Good luck with your journey into tele land!. |

I Bought a Nelsonic for my first tele and laugh when friends dont beleive its not a fender, maybe i got lucky i dunno but i have a wide wide range of tone, itll sound jazzy to bluesy or twang like noones buisness. A friend of mine plays alot of rock and southern rock on a very very nice LP custom and sorta scoffed at my telecopy, he set the telecopy up for me, plugged it in, and ripped of some AC/DC, Pete Anderson and then some Skynard riffs, looked up and said "whats nelsonics website again"
DO i want a couple actual fenders? yea, but i wouldnt trade my telecopy for one.. oh and it was $149 New and shipped, BTW the LP is hung on the wall now... |
