Chris Issacs new CD-Wicked GTR content???

Anwone heard this yet? Don't know if it's all new tunes or a mix of old and new. Heard "King Without A Castle" for the first time last night and cranked that puppy! My son had a killer sound system installed in my vehicle, so thats about the only place I listen loud any more!

What a great tune. While I have several Isaac CD's, and have been a big fan since the early days, I have not heard the last 2-3 new CD's, so forgive me if this is old hat...but, I was very impressed with the song, the production, the playing....is it or own Mr Wilsey?

This would be a great tune for a band to cover. The guitar tone is so darn addictive. The solo is just wonderful......killer tone...fat, juicy, sweet and tasty, yet od so restrained. A textbook lesson in less is more. The type of song you can cop note for note then cut lose if the spirit move you!

I have not bought a new CD in quite some time, but may have to get this one!

I believe its a "Greatest Hits" disk with one new song, "King without a Castle", and a coupld of acoustic versions of a few others thrown in.

-Yeah, that song is great! Although Its been so long since Chris put anything out, I'm a little dissapointed its not an all new album...

Hmmm....

...well it isn't our own WickedGtr. It's Hershel Yatovitz.

I don't want to come off as a party pooper but it's a good song that seems to have good writing but the vocals are wacked. Chris seems to have this fascination with the word.."wanderin'" and yelping it. Sounds lame. It's an Always Got Tonight -type song that seems to have eeked out onto the GH record. Whatever sells right?

If you've never bought a Chris Isaak CD I think the discs to buy would be Heart Shaped World and the 1987 "green" album. You'll be motivated beyond comprehension.

I have heard in the rumour mill that Isaak has a CD of new material due out in the fall. Keep your ears tuned for any news. I've been anxiously waiting for JCW's The Mysteries to unveil a full-length CD. I've been waiting for nine years for it. I'll prepay for that anytime.

It may be only 4 or 5 songs but they're all classics. You're way too modest WickedGTR.

'Forever Blue' is a great album. I especially like 'Graduation Day', although now I say it I realise that actually I 'especially like' just about the whole album!

I wish they'd release his TV show on DVD. It sometimes gets shown here late at night, so I tape it, then rave to people about how good it is. They normally respond, "I didn't know he had a TV show..." Programme schedulers: gotta love 'em.

If "Lie to Me" is your playing... the rest of the songs on that album are amazing, but oh man, if that is you... well, I think you are a really great, great player! Chris lost me when he chose to go toward the "bad, bad thing stuff"

Dear WickedGTR,

I went to 'your space' and found those tones to be as delicious as ever ! Are you still producing those deep rich tones with 9 - 42 strings ?

Respectful regards
F.F.

It's a great album...

...Forever Blue that is. It was the most stripped down sound he's ever had and the most heaviest lyrics. It's hard to listen to that album straight through. Gregg Arreguin (super nice guy) played some on that album but I think Chris did the majority of lead work. This was the album that SHOULD HAVE HAD JCW on it.

The songwriting on it was the best he's ever done. It's a shame that you don't hear more off the album on the air or satellite.

BDABBT was huge. I first heard that song back in '94 (?) at a concert and I can't tell you how many people at GC, record stores, music libraries I had searched to never find it until the album came out in '95. I was blown away when he played it.

When he performed it live it was awesome! Heavy, sad and utterly angry but any guy could relate and that was it's strength. He didn't have all the stupid, lame comedy intro-ing it that he does on it now.

Back then it was this heavy, sad song with the guys building the intensity up to a huge crescendo at the end. I felt he cheapened it with his Vegas crap. Really pulls a lot of power away from the song when he started doing that. The title song, Forever Blue, was another one that got 'calypsoed.' The mood back then was just heavy. Now, it's like "Welcome to Wal-Mart. My name's Chris. May I help you. The beach towels are in aisle 7. Take care!" Phony.

If you really want to feel the essence of the album, I suggest playing Changed Your Mind in the dark, at night, doors closed and nothing else going on. If you get that, you got the album.

......just had to say it.
