Anyone know when the last Fender was made in Fullerton?

Anyone know when the last Fender was made in Fullerton, CA?

My wife is getting her masters at Cal State Fullerton and we pass Fender road everytime I drive her to school. This might be the street where Fender actually had their factory or it could have been named in tribute. I dunno but it is hard to imagine that all those incredible guitars that came out of this factory that changed the face of music and altered world history!

It had to be late 1984 or early 1985. Early 1985 was when CBS sold the company and production was moved to Japan until the new factory in Corona was opened in late 1985.

They got that Corona factory opened awfully fast.

I've been in that area and Fender Ave. is not where the famous Fender factory was located. Leo's numerous, smaller buildings from the mid-'50s were side-by-side on Raymond. When CBS took over, they built a huge place around the corner on a street called Valencia.

After Leo left, he developed a small industrial park nearby and a street was named for him (or maybe it was his privilege to name the street as the developer). In fact, that's where the G&L factory was founded, so you're still on rather historic ground there!
