Just in today - the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo

When travelling to New York last week, I had my mind set on getting this echo effect, much like the Echoplex or the WEM Copycat, luscious echoes and delays.

Now Fulltone is backordered 4-6 months on this gizmo, but after talking to their Manhattan dealer (Rudy's on 48th) and to Mr. Michael Fuller himself, it was arranged that Fulltone send over a TTE to NY (talk about customer oriented!). It arrived one day after I had to get my flight, so we had to arrange to have it couriered to my house (just a few more dollars than NY sales tax). It arrived at my door this morning, looks something like this:

I will shoot a picture of my rig later and post it. Right now, I have to convert it from 120V to 240V operation (multi-tap transformer) and then - let it loose!

I first saw this echo/delay device in use at a Black Crowes concert in Amsterdam - impressive! Other pro users include Brian Setzer and Keith Richards (they will both be using it for a little bit slapback echo I presume, but this thing really excels in spacey, long, phaseshifting echoes). I don't know if a rank amateur like me is even worthy of such a beautiful thing ....

I've heard great things about it (and it should great at that price!!), but just for the record, Brian Setzer no longer uses the TTE. He went back to using his trusty old beat-up Roland 301's.

I've heard it, but don't own one. It's on the wish list...

Even with the echo effect off, the TTE adds some lucious tube preamp goodness to your tone. It's almost worth having just for that!

Sorry, this was just information gleaned from the Fulltone website http://www.fulltone.com/tte.asp

I have actually never been to a concert of Brian Setzer - I must make a point of doing that next time he's around ...

Congrats!

The TTE is the best echo/delay I've ever heard. Make sure you try it in stereo too....it will knock you out. The tube front end can also be used as a boost, having quite a bit of gain available.

Congratulations ! That's a purchase you won't regret. I bought mine about a year ago.
