It's a little mysterious. It would obviously make sense to release in the US first.

I spoke to Bill in January, at NAMM, and "sometime in the summer" was his best guess at a release date, but he had only got back from recording in London at that point. Hopefully there will soon be some clarification.

Johnny, I'm 99% certain that the 4/30/06 date you see there is just a time/date stamp from when the news item was entered and *not* the date of the release. Last time I saw Bill play he mentioned the record and said that he thought it might be out in June. There's no mention of it on his main website.

Hey JohnnyA,

I saw Bill K at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va last Saturday night (the 22nd) and he played about 4 new songs. Really great stuff!

He did say that even though the new cd wouldn't be out until September he was going to "bore" us with some new songs.

The show was called Twin Twang featuring Bill K with Tom Principato opening and then joining Bill on the encore. The show was just fantastic. I've seen Bill play a few times but this was the first time I ever saw him play Trombone.

very good times.

I met Bill at January's NAMM as well... he was so cool!

Has anybody figured out when we can hear this thing yet?

Yeah, I loved that "The Honky Tonker's Hammer" song about the Tele. The other songs were good too...all the Sunset Grille-heads were yelling for the old stuff but the new stuff was great too.

Looking forward to September.

Kirchen's New Album

the album Hammer of the Honky Tonk Gods is due out early september, the album is terriffic, I like all tracks, and have been listening to it almost nonstop. I have a scratch, so some tracks may change in the final mix. but great stuff, certainly not typical but great indeed. Can't wait to purchase the final copy, which I will do despite having a scratch, which I got from Bill.
