Does Weber manufacture their own speakers?

I was just checking on a thread I started on the amp page, and one of the posts said that either Jensen or someone else manufactures the Webers? Is this true, I sure didn't think so.....

From what I understand ...

Ted manufacturers all his speakers in house.

Weber used to distribute Jensens when they were first reissued, but he hasn't done that for awhile.

That's what I thought...

That was my understanding, too. I reckon that's the downside to having access to all these wonderful people; sometimes all the info can get crazy. Thanks for clearing that up for me, just looking at a Jensen and then a Weber should have been enough, but, ah well, who cares....

THey build their own speakers

When I called to order my Weber's I was told they have to build them first. So they build thier own stuff. Good speakers too, I'm very pleased with them.

Well, maybe it's a bit more complicated than that.

From what I hear, some of the parts they put together @ Weber's, these are manufactured by someone else. The cones, and spiders, for example.

Those would simply be raw materials. And surprisingly, they don't grow the trees the paper is made out of either, nor smelt the metal for the frames.

Yep, and I guess we are all in trouble then
I didn't realize it was a negative on us if we didn't make all our own parts.

I'll be sure and share that with my friends at Celestion, Eminence, JBL, and all the other speaker manufacturers.
None of us make our parts. There are a ton of loudspeaker support companies who do that for us. It's how we spec the parts that's important.

But, that gives me an idea... maybe I should cut down the trees outside and.... and... naaahhhh :D

Welcome to the Board! It might work better to send that question through the Weber page or use the Personal Message feature on this site. Just a suggestion, again welcome.

Cheers
Matt
