cherry Telecaster

After my recent near disaster with a dodgey fake Telecaster I'd thought I'd consult you guys before I purchase this one.

This is a 1977/78 cherry burst Tele.

What you think, original? Price?

Headstock bothers me...

There's something strange in that headstock shape and the decal. Could be the camera angle. That S- serial looks odd, mine is typed without a break after the letter "S" (S1234567). Then again this propably is correct for very late 70's... Don't like the notch on these mid-to-late 70's Teles.

  • $1,500 tew $2,500 and prolly more the shape its in.
  • If yew pull that guard and/or the control panel yew kin tell fer sure its a 78 er 79 er 80 er 81. The neck pocket should haff scallops and that control cavity will prolly haff a step-up center with a ground lug and if stock mite haff white spa-get-tea roun the wires.

  • WOW!! A thang of beauty !!

That's the same color (cherry burst) as a Lead II that I used to have. It was the worst gtr I ever owned - I got it in a swap with a bass player I was picking with at the time (mid-80's) - I sold it ASAP.

By the way - nice looking tele.

Minor details! You won't even notice that from 15 feet away.

I find the second string tree on a Tele a little odd though.

Great looking sunburst on this guitar!

[*]Freewheeler and Pete Galati, yew boff haff purdy good
  • Even with that pari-boll-lick camera view the tew thangs yew noticed are true. The fat lookin "ender "and the string tree spacin are different than udder 78s. That space betwixt the S and the number did vary on sum.
  • I'm still lookin and wood still like a look unner that pickguard and control panel.

Hey Twang Man, please be careful & think about it before jumping. You seem to be in a massive rush and you almost got burned once. And I am not yakkin' here about a fraud. You are purchasing a guitar you ain't never played. Yeah, buying one Fuzzy or some of the other Tele guru's recommend is one thing but just grabbing one through the mail which I or anyone I would trust ain't ever laid their fingers on would scare me plumb to death.
This is just my opinion but I have been playing therse things for almost 40 years.
