What kind of Telecaster is this?
Hello everyone,
I'm from Holland and I want to know something about a Telecaster I saw on the internet. What kind of telecaster is this? http://koopjes.marktplaats.nl/muziek...27803329.html? Productionyear: 1999 - Corona California USA Serialnumber: N9380195 The owner says the telecaster is all origional. What is this Telecaster worth? How many dollars? Thanks in advance! Jelle |

It looks like a regular Sunburst USA telecaster. If I did the conversion right, he wants $960.00 USD. That's a lot of money, you can buy a new one for that or less., but I understand it's probably not an easy thing to do in Holland.
if it were here locally and it played nice and sounded good, I would say somewhere between $600.00 -$675.00 would be fair if i really liked it. |

I think Bones has everything pretty much nailed down and his valuations look good. The only thing I might add, for what little it's worth, is that the switch tip doesn't look original. It could be the camera angle, but it almost looks like a black Strat switch tip.

thanks
You were right, all American guitars are pretty expensive. A Mexican telecaster is about €575 and for an american you pay at least €1000. So this Telecaster is just an American Standard Telecaster from 1999?( http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0135102387 ) Or an American Serie? As bones says, it's probably worth $650 in the US. A new MIA retails now for $850. So, we're talking about a 0.76 ratio. I did a quick search in the web and a new MIA retails in central Europe for 1100 - 1200 euro, so for that market, 800 for a used one seems fair.

May be a bit steep ...
Hi JvdW, nice to see another Dutchman here.
Those are pretty sketchy pictures, but to me, it looks like an AmSer Telecaster. Like Bones and Pete Galati said, the price is quite steep, but that is from their transatlantic point of view. Here, in the Netherlands, you may also find a better price, but I also suspect that a price on marktplaats is negotiable, and may the seller may come down by as much as € 50-100. And finally, reg. that guitar, be aware that it is a modern version of the Telecaster, with a modern bridge unit in stead of a 'vintage', and somewhat 'polite' pickups. I have a '96 one, very good and all, but different compared to say a '52 RI. Good luck and let us know what you decide. |
