Question re. crack in 72 Thinline reissue
I bought a CIJ 72 Thinline reissue, and it's got a crack un the underside of the body extending out about an inch against the grain from where the body meets the side of the neck toward the front of the body. The guitar sounds and plays great, but I'm wondering if this crack poses a threat--either short-term or long-term.

'an inch against the grain' - is that the width or depth of the crack? if not what are the dims of the crack and the lenght of it. if it's a hairline crack i would not worry about it except to keep an eye on it. if you can put the tip of a guitar string into the crack then i would have it repaired or clear glue put inside it and sealed. my oppinion without seeing it first hand.

that's great to here it is a hairline. i have a vintage base that has a hairline at the back of the neck-between the neck and headstock and it's been there for many many years and has not grown any at all. - good pickin's !
