Go to a music store with a large selection of guitars, and start playing them.

If you don't find one that's magic to you, go to another music store, and start playing their guitars.

Repeat as necessary.

I think that Suhr is a beaut! I've never played one, so I can't give a personal account, but from the vast postive threads I've read on them, I don't think you could go wrong.

Also, check out the Fred Stuart guitar posted in a thread here. Beautiful guitar. I'm a partscaster fella myself. After years of playing, I've figured out what it is I want in a tele style guitar and putting it together myself assured me of getting what I wanted.

If I was to buy a new, higer end guitar, Lentz would probably get the call. Not the standard tele shape, but my oh my, what stunning guitars.

From reading your post though, I think you answered your own question. If the Crook was among the best you ever played...there ya go. Again, no personal experience with Crook, but several here who own them, swear by them. Best of luck with your search. I hope you find the one that speaks to you in an honest and true voice.
