The Little Willies
Just wondering if you guys have heard this new band---Nora Jones on vocals + piano and Jim Campilongo on guitar. Some songs on the CD are "Roly Poly" incredible playing by Jim, "Streets of Baltimore", "Night Life", a Really Cool version of "Tennessee Stud"--you must hear Jim on this one. The other vocalist is Richard Julian. Check It Out!!

Yeah, I just heard them on XM yesterday. It was a pretty off the wall tune about seeing Lou Reed cow tipping.....
Norah: "But I thought he was a vegetarian..." Richard: "Yeah, but he wasn't eating the cow, he was just pushing it over...." |

They were by far my favorite thing I saw at SXSW this year. Jim is a really nice, personable, approachable guy as well.
The playing on that CD is so good it's almost goofy.

As for his PUs, Jim posted on his website that he's had his original 59 PUs rewound by Duncan. I haven't seen Jim on the TDPRI for a while, but I hope the spotlight on the Little Willies gives him the attention he so rightfully deserves. Can't wait to see the Conan show this Friday. Are the Little Willies going on tour? If so, the folks between SF and NYC can finally see ya live, Jim!
If you like the Willies CD, go out and buy every single Jim Campilongo CD available...especially American Hips. |

wooooo... little willies!!!
wow!!
on the recommendation of the good people here at tdpri, i purchased this great album. boy... it REALLY reminds me so much of an album that would have been made in the early 70's when the eagles and poco and burrito bros etc., were breaking big. its country-folk-rock at its absolute best!! no frills, no big production... just great, honest, earthy musicianship!! my hat is off to all who made and played on this wonderful album. especially norah jones, who could do anything she wants, in any musical direction, but chose to hang in with the nyc boys and croon and rock out! absolutely wonderful selection of songs! heartfelt ballads and amusing originals (lou reeds "cow tippin', kills me!) mostly sparse, trasteful arrangements and really fine playing by all involved. (especially the piano, guitar and ORGAN) and... the harmonies are absolute killer!!! gram parsons must have been somewhere close by, thinking of emmylou and smiling! im telling my friends and all that this is easily one of the best albums ive heard in the last 25 years. and, i listen to a lot of stuff. it just hit me in the right way at the right time!!!!! buy it. (ill be playing friday nite, so no conan. but ive gotta see them if they're close by.) rand z (tropicalsouil.net |
