Couldn't say no to this surf green tele...

Sometimes, I just can't say no... :)

The pickups - currently stock - will be replaced with a set of Lindy Fralins Blues Specials I have had sitting on my desk for about 2 months now, waiting for the right axe to dump them into...

All tags still on her, not a ding... yummy. I was looking for one in shell pink and found this one... still looking for one in shell pink though :D

More pics in this slideshow.

I used to have one just like that. I loved it. I put a Duncan JD pickup in it and it just smoked...I sold it before I could replace the neck pickup....

I was watching that one on ebay, and saw the price run way up there in the last minute. I was THAT close to trying to make it more expensive for you, heheh.

Fortunately, I came across a mint condition pink one that was also for sale on ebay but got no bids - made a great deal with the seller and it's now on its way to me, err, I mean my wife. Hopefully I'll have it by monday and can post pics...

I love the one with the HB. I tried to buy one of those in daphne blue a while back... the price got out of hand, though...

Thanks for the kind words!

Well, I beat you to the pink one, anyway. I will post a heads-up if I come across another one.

The guy who sold it to me also has a pink paisley tele for sale, as well as a 50th anniversary strat.

I told him about TDPRI last night, so those may pop up on the classifieds on this site.

I would, but my wife likes the pink better than the green, and it's "her" guitar. She stopped pining for my squier protone thinline tele when she saw the pink one, which will hopefully keep her from bugging me to buy her an ultra-expensive gretsch hollowbody for a while. She started lessons a while back and is "graduating" to a cooler guitar than her Danelectro U2.

Good for her! And good for you to have a wife who understands your passion first hand, so to speak...

Congrats - that is one gorgeous guitar. Ya know we need something like Twanger Central where we can just post some snippets just to show what these gitboxes sound like.
By the way, guys - my wife loves and appreciates good guitars - owns a wonderful Gibson J-100 herself. Get her into Woodsy's in Kent, Ohio and you cannot get her out she is so busy droolin' over the guitars.

Surfgreen Thinline

Hey mojocasterman,

Welcome to the club! I have one exactly like it. You have one of a hundred of that model and color. In fact I also have one of the Surf Green '72 Thinlines from the same custom color MIM run. My understanding is that they made 100 each of the five "Car Colors" in both the '69 and the '72 Thinlines. Both instruments are truly wonderful in every sense of the word. I would never get rid of either one of them. I really have a difficult time choosing which one to play, as I love them both equally. The '72 is the most versitle guitar I have and the '69 is the sweetest.

I also have the Surf Green '50s Stratocaster, which I collectively call the Surfer Girls. These are all keepers. All I need to complete the Surfer Girl collection is the '62 Custom Surf Green Telecaster, and I'm saving my pennies for that one. I saw one in Spokane last year and they are beyond compare.

Bruce, what's your source on this? I've been trying to get some definitive number on these, but so far I've heard 100 of each, and 200 of each. But it's hearsay, and I can't confirm any of it. Wish I could. Thanks!
