Do the brass saddles make a big difference?

My new lite ash tele is quite a bit "brighter" sounding than my other guitars and I was wondering if I can attribute that to the brass saddles? It has the standard 3 barrell bridge with brass saddles where my Paisley has the stock 3 barrell chrome saddles.

If it does make a big difference and I want to match the two guitars a little more evenly, should I go to all chrome ones or put the brass ones on my paisley?

Actually, steel saddles are normally brighter than brass ones. There are a lot of factors involved in making up the final tone but in general, brass smooths out and rounds the tone more than steel.

The ash is probably making your guitar sound bright. You can use the brass saddles to warm the tone up a bit or get slightly hotter or overwound pickups to tame the highs and add a little more midrange into your tone.

I may swap out pickups later down the road for some Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups since I like them so much in my Paisley tele...... Maybe that'll give it more "umph" like the paisley.
