You guys seen this? Looks pretty slick! I bet it's gonna cost at least three hundred bucks!

Not bad...
I like that they went with the Blonde/black gaurd look. The tele I just finished (well, I'm still waiting on pickups, c'mon Lindy!) was made to look like a picture I saw of Mr. Bryant with a blonde/black one, minus his artwork on the gaurd......

Mind Blower of a Tele
I had the HONOR of playing it for none other then Loraine Bryant..she never heard how it sounded... well she dug it!! and gave me some props... on my pickin..
That was that strange part...cause all the sudden I started country speed pickin like never before???? hummmm... very spritual moment in my life! I also meet Jimmy's Brother John Bryant... I asked if he played and he said a little...just then his wife leaned over and said"He Can Play!" And I got to express to Jimmy's Son John Bryant a good hearty congrats! John and I live close and we are friends & jam often! |

I just got back on this site and wanted to see what people were saying about the guitar. First I might clarify something - that was never my dads guitar in that photo. Also, the guitar is a "Tribute Telecaster" and could be anything that I thought my dad would like to play. It was meant to be built for the players of today, and from the feedback I got at NAMM from Johnny Hiland and other good players (some will remain anonymous dus to their contracts with other guitar manufacturers) - it is a great feeling neck, the nocaster pickups sound good, the pickguard is an exact replica of one off of his Tele form the early 50's, the finish looks great - better than the picture on the Fender website, and it has modern wiring because I think Leo would want to use what he would have around today. Oh, it does cost a little more than $300 - Fender has it listing for $3,200. I am very proud of what my dad did and I think he would be very proud of Fender recognizing him after all these years. There are so many good players today. I often think about the guys after WWII that were getting new amps and these new Teles - wow, it must have been unreal to hear the new sounds and feel like the guitar was more of a lead instrument. Well, I thought I would say hi and thanks for checking out the JB Tele - I hope to see some players using it on stage in the near future. By the way, Fender is going to start building them and will sell as many as they can. A lot of people came away from the booth saying it was one of the top looking guitars at the Fender booth. They are going to do it up even bigger at the winter NAMM show where they will have more room in the booth - should be fun. John Bryant |

jimmy bryant site with photos of tribute tele
Here is a photo of the guitar hanging in the booth and on page 2 you can see Chris Scruggs playing it in the booth.
www.jimmybryant.us I spent some time with George Fulelrton talking about how they would stain the guitars white then put a finish coat over that - you could always see the grain in my dads guitars. This new guitar has such a cool look - the white with the grain showing through, the pickguard actually has 3 colors - black, gold, and silver - I can see why my dad had the silver since it goes really well with the white body. The guitar is very clean looking, I did not want to go over board with anything. Oh well, talk to you later. JB |

hmmmm....$$$$
Jimmy Bryant is probably the best Telecaster player there ever was (or is) and it is nice to see him honoured with this nice looking axe. But.....why do these tribute guitars cost so much? Is Fender making us pay for the GAS caused by this JB tele?

Hi John,
I'm really excited about the Jimmy Bryant Telecaster. I sure do wish I could afford one (being a parent is too expensive). My initials are JB also, so the pickguard would be perfect for me. :D I just wanted to tell you that you did a great job with the guitar, and I want to tell you how much your father's music has meant to me. I listen to the Bear Family box set almost daily. My two-year old son loves their music. Even my wife loves it. I am constantly inspired by your father's playing. I'm listening to the track "China Boy" as I type this and I'm just dreaming of being able to play like that. I checked out your Jimmy Bryant website. I really like all the pictures, and I'm looking forward to the cd reissue on the Sundazed label that your aunt mentioned. Take it easy. |
