Shell Pink Project (Pics) UPDATE.........
From this:
![]() To this: ![]() I put the final coats of Reranch Shell Pink on 'er this morning. I gonna head on over to Lowe's and get a couple of cans of Deft nitro glossy and start that process in a couple of days. I am really itching to get this one done. I'll get a couple of additional shots of this after I get nearer completion. Now that my wife sees the color, it's now OK to officially call this one a member of the family.

Looking good !!!.........
You've got more patience than I. You could start clear coating it tomorrow ................. I'd probably start today. I agree with your choice of Deft Gloss over ReRanch Clear.

How did it work Based on a couple of your previous posts, I decided on the Deft. I ordered from Reranch a single can of the glossy nitro and started thinking "How many coats is this thing gonna need?" I have never sprayed nitro before and am taking my time; trying to do it the right way, and not be impatient. I didn't want to mix brands so it was Walmart to the rescue for $4.54 a can. I may start later today if I can get all my stuff done

I've sprayed Deft over ReRanch lacquer, Krylon, Rust-O-Leum, and Lowes house brand. If I'm going over a non-lacquer I usually give it a day. A day for Krylon maybe more for the others since they dry slower. It's alway a good idea to spray some scrap pieces to make sure you don't have a compatibility problem.
If you're going to be painting many guitars with nitro lacquer in the future, I'd recommend that you get yourself a good respirator. I recently bought a new one at Lowes for around $27.

Complete!
Body:
![]() Body and Neck: ![]() From the back: ![]() Down the neck: ![]() I attempted to not go overboard on this one. The Warmoth body is 2 piece poplar and I watched it in the "must go" section of their website for 2 weeks until it dropped to $99. The neck is bird's eye maple with a rosewood fret board and vintage sized frets. Warmoth cut the corian nut for it and did a very good job. $187..... P/U's are GFS alinco vintage for both the neck and bridge from guitarfetish and together were less than 60 bucks. The rest of the hardware is from Warmoth and Angela, and the Shell Pink paint, primer, s & s, and clear coat from Reranch. I like the Reranch stuff, but I have determined for the next project I'll get only the color I want there and the rest of the stuff locally from Lowes. Total investment under $525.

GFS p/u's seem to be OK. They sound better than stock ones in my "real Fender" natural but not quite as good as the Duncans in my other Warmoth. For $57 vs. $120, it's one of the items that allowed be to build a less expensive custom made. I'd do them again. I think I am gonna spring for some Glendale saddles on payday, though....... One other thing......I got a "fat" neck with a 1 5/8' nut on this neck. I feels really cool - like your favorite baseball bat when you were a kid. Not quite as fast, but really solid......

I love shell pink. That is one beautiful guitar, and the budget just blew me away. Congratulations on a job very well done. How does it sound?
