Re: My current Fave Tele player is...

...usually the one I listen to at the moment. :?

If I was to pick just ONE, Roy Buchanan is ONE, Redd Volkaert is another ONE, and so on........

Al "Bigger Is Better" Anderson & KEEF!!!!!!!

Couldn't decide here between Al Anderson with NRBQ
and Keith Richards. Anderson has the best pharsing I have heard since Louis Armstrong and Keef, what can you say, he is the heart of rock & roll and there has never been a better three minute blast of rock than Jumping Jack Flash.

and his tele playing..?

well, its kinda bluesy, but also melodic, very precise but soulful,, too.

hey, hes from oklahoma and there are lots of great guitarists (jj cale, charlie christian, barney kessel) are from there!! must be the water...

imho

I will have to agree with you. I suppose it depends on what music you like and play but he is truly a great all around artist. Another one I like alot and he's kind of faded away but Steve Wariner is pretty slick to....but I suppose Im being partial since he's from Indiana.
But last month I saw Brad Paisley for the second time and that guy just about burned the neck off that Tele!!!
Some of his influences, I've heard, have come from Gill, Wariner and Red Vokaert. I saw him for the first time in March of 2005 and the next day was searching to find out what he played. Crook Custom Guitars!! Ive had MIM Tele for almost 5 years but in April 05 I contacted Bill Crook, sent him a deposit and ordered a Tangerine Paisley set up like Brads only w/o a bender. The wife was kind of p***ed off but she got over it. I couldnt put this thing down for days. WOW!!! What an awesome guitar and extremely forgiving for someone who doesnt play professionally.
Sorry got off the subject there for a bit.

Re: My current FAVE Tele player is...

Right now, my favorite is Michael Bloomfield. I'm listening to Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited over and over...

Dude, how can you pick one? Gatton, Burton, Cropper, Volkert, etc....

However, I must admit that my fave GUITAR players are known for other guitars. Trey Ansastasio, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Jerry Garcia, Duane Allman, Dickie Betts, Tony Iommi, Django Reinhart, Mantias DiPlatta, Paco DeLucia, Kerry King and Andres Segovia have all probably never even been in the same room as a tele....

Lot's of favorites, but there are several that I have been listening to recently.

Johnny Rawls (Here we go, My turn to win)

Steve Cropper (on one of William Bell's CDs Soul of a man?)

Found an interesting CD on Legacy Records (John Kay with Sparrow- basically pre-Steppenwolf with Jerry Edmontons' brother (Mars Bonifire) on tele (not Michael Monarch who played an Esquire in early Steppenwolf) - the cover art also shows JK with a tele. Not all of the CD is great but it is interesting and I do like the tele tones on this record.

several notable players in the Flying Burrito Brothers

and Duke Levine

I can't pick, and I'm happy with that. But of the ones listed so far I give extra props to Redd and Jim Campilongo because they are tdpri members!
