Clear Pickguard and ???
I've got a beautiful butterscotch Tele that I want to display. It *seems* that a clear pickguard would be the most appropriate.
The rut for the neck pup wiring would be visible so I thought about putting a pic on the clear pg to cover up the rut. What do you guys/gals think? PB 8) |

Brings back memories of the late eighties/early nineties when some of the big-haired metal players had clear pickguards on their "guitars"...didn't like 'em them and don't like them now, but if you dig it...go for it!
In fact...I once made a clear pickguard that I put on top of a black pickguard that has an autograph...just a means of protection...

Sorry ............... I meant a picture of the guitar without a pickguard so we could see the body and give opinions.

Any chance you could get a hold of stuff the Tele's finished in and just "shade" around the opening? I would think you could get pretty close to matching the body color. Look for some photos of the pickguards on paisleys and you'll see what I mean- hope this helps, and be sure and post pics whatever you decide!

not to spoil the fun but
I do think this is a nice looking tele and the pickguard would look fine. At first. But wouldnt the scratches you get from playing eventually spoil the appearance?
I know my scratchplates (or pickguards) do have some serious very fine scratches on it. That will not look nice in my opinion. I do like the idea though. Vincent
