Best addition to a tele

I am a happy owner of 2 tele's. I started with a fernandes telecaster copy (this is the maple tele with the normal tele headstock, I believe it's the TE-2). And I have got a 1952 RI telecaster, built 1998. I modded the fernandes with a humbucker in the neck position with a push pull put to switch the humbucker to single coil)

Now I am thinking about buying another electric guitar. The guitars on my short list are the following:

A MIM Stratocaster Classic
Jimmy Vaughan Signature strat
A Gretsch made in Korea.
I believe all cost about 600-700 euro

What would make the best addition to my tele's according to you guys and girls.

I play mostly pop/rock/blues in a cover band. Songs from artists like the Black Crowes, Counting Crows, Gavin Degraw, John Mayer, Beth Hart and Sheryl Crow.

I love the look and feel of the Tele, and the way the body settles into mine. That big ol' horn on the Strat always gets in my way. I'd be looking for a Tele with buckers, DeArmonds, or P-90s.

For buckers you've got everything from a used MIJ/CIJ '72 Thinline, MIM '72 Thinline, '72 Squier Tele Custom, MIM '72 Deluxe. The Squier Master Series Chambered Tele looks interesting too.

DeArmonds would be the Telesonic, probably too pricey though.

P-90s would be the '72 Squier Tele Custom II and, I think, the TC-90 double cut Tele.

Gretsch. I've got a sparkle jet MIJ that works as a great second option to my teles. Plus it has a complimentary sound to a tele in my opinion.

JV Strat

Since you're already used to the feel of a Fender, I'd suggest a Stratocaster, particularly the Jimmie Vaughan model. These are well built, nice sounding axes for the money.

After complaining about that upper bout getting in my way, IF I were to buy a Strat it would be a JV. Nicest feeling Strat I've played in years along with a Shell Pink MIJ 50's Strat that I could've gotten for a song. Oops. I've never played one of the MIM 50's Strats, but I like the somewhat flatter board on the JV. Great guitar.

But I'd still buy one of the others in my orignal list... :P

Any one of those 3 would be fine, I guess. But the Gretsch WOULD sound different from the Strats. I'd probably go for the Gretsch.

Well, the alternate choice was Ms. Terri Clark:

But I like the way Anita Cochran... uh... picks. ;-)

(And now that we've completely hijacked this thread, my apologies...) :-(

Meanwhile, another (on-topic) suggestion: lots of Tele-folks like P-90 equipped guits for a fat single-coil sound: you might look at something like an Epiphone '56 Les Paul or a Gibson SG with P-90s. Just a thought. :-) Best of luck, CS

Does Anita have an AV 62 Custom CAR or a CIJ?

That just reminded me of a gym teacher I had in 9th grade who flirted with 14 year old girls. Mr. Cochran. Creepy fellow he was.

To contribute, a Strat is a good addition, but I'd also look for something of the Fender ilk with humbuckers-a much different flavor.
