Opinions re: 72 Thinline Reissue

Currently have a 98 AS with Bardens. My tastes trend more toward jazz these days so I'd like a Tele that's a bit darker. Local shop doesn't have Thinlines in stock so I thought I'd ask for opinions here. Not sure how Fender buckers sound, not sure how neck shape compares to my 98 (which is a bit too thin for me), not sure if I'll like Strat hardtail bridge, etc. Most of what I've heard about MIM has been very positive. Thanks in advance.

I had one for a bit about 2 years ago. They are really nice. Light and comfortable to play. I do think that if I was to get another one and hang on to it, I would put in some pups that were a little more articulate than the stock ones, but my understanding is a lot of people like those stock pups. The guy I sold it to gigs 3 nights a week and hasn't changed a thing except the strings.

I have a '72 RI and i like it very much. It's very light and very resonant,it's the one i grab if i'm going to play unplugged.I had the bridge p.u. rewound by OWEN DUFFY and that really helped the sound.I can live with the stock neck p.u. sound ,but wanted a little more out of the bridge p.u.and am very happy with it now.The neck not too thin and has a 7-1/2" radius that's something to consider.I kinda like the feel of the vintage 3 saddle tele style bridge and have considered cutting one of the many i have and mounting it on the thinline but that's just me, i can't leave any guitar as is.As far as the sound you can always screw with the pots, caps and p.u. height until your happy.I've played quite a few thinline reissues both '69 and '72's and have'nt found a "bad "one yet. They seem to be pretty consistant.
