Rookie wants Telecaster
Greetings from a new member.
I am a novice guitar player who really likes the look and feel of the Telecaster. Can members post some suggestions on a specific model/options best suited towards classic rock? Looking to buy a good guitar to learn on and that will last. Any input appreciated. |

When you say you like the feel of the Tele, which one(s) have you been playing. There are so many Teles out there today with neck shapes and sizes ranging from big ol' vintage to modern flat oval and other choices in between. Frets also vary from vintage to medium jumbo and fretboard radius (roundness) can vary. You need to decide what feels best to you.
Having said that, I might send someone looking at the Nashville Deluxe Tele as a good classic rock instrument. It has a Strat middle PU allowing for a nice mix of Tele and Strat tones. The neck is more modern in design and the guitar is reasonably priced new and used. Put in a Stew Mac Megaswitch to lose the middle PU alone but gain the bridge/neck combo, and you've got one killer axe for looks, playability, versatility, and tone. If nothing else it's a good start on your test drives. Best of luck and keep us posted!!

yes, go to every guitar store in your area and start playing them. Play them with the same amp you own if possible. Different guitars of the same model will sound/feel different, so look for the one that speaks to you.
The truth is, it doesn't matter which one you pick. After a couple of months of hanging out here, you'll want another...and then another. Not implace of your original choice, but in addition to it. ...The TDPRI HAS YOU... |

Yea...I agree.....TRY the MIM Nashville....they can be found gently used for around $300. The bonus is along with the tele vibe you also get the middle position strat pick-up. A really great tele that not going to break the bank.
