Merry Christmas everyone!

I received a guitar stand this xmas, and on it it said not reccomended for guitars with nitrocellulose laquer finish.

So my question is, is that the finish on the MIM standard?

don't worry 'bout it

If you have a guitar with a NITROCELLULOSE finish, you'll probably know becaus it is a premium selling point and you usually have to pay for it. The 52 RI and some custom shop models are NITROCELLULOSE, most gibsons are NITROCELLULOSE. some high end acoustics are NITROCELLULOSE. Fender stopped using it sometimes in the 60's i think (i don't have my tele bible with me right now, sorry)

IF you ever get a fiddle with NITROCELLULOSE finish you can cover the surgical rubber tubing (the main culprit) with a soft cloth, i prefer to use cut up sections of old socks. I have seen nice guitar stores (Elderly in Michigan for example -- FREE PLUG) use leather slip on coverse for all their hangers and stands.

Poly is what Fender has been using ever since 1968, and is pretty bullet proof.

I think you're meaning nitro and talking poly! Nitro is found on most of Gibson's and Fender's vintage RI stuff and Fender Custom Shop guitars, like The '51 Nocaster. Usually on the more expensive axes. Fender stopped using nitro mid 60's except for the front of the headstock. Decals don't like poly...

TAKE THE WARNING SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!

YEARS AGO I LEFT A WHITE LES PAUL CUSTOM SITTING ON ONE OF THOSE STANDS IN MY MUSIC ROOM. THOUGHT IT WAS COOL TO HAVE ALL MY INSTRUMENTS OUT ON DISPLAY. THE LAQUER REACTED WITH THE PADDING FOAM OF THE STAND AND LEFT TWO STIPES ACROSS THE BUTT END OF THE BODY AND ONE ACROSS THE NECK AT THE FOURTH FRET. I GOT A NEW GUITAR OUT OF THE DEAL FROM THE STAND MFG'R BUT WITH THE DISCLAIMER YOU MENTIONED I DOUBT THEY WOULD NOW BE CULPABLE. USE THE OLD SOCK TRICK.
