Original case, '80s Rosewood Teles?

Season's greetings, folks!

I did a search and did not see the answer - apologies if I just missed it, but: Can anyone tell me what kind of case came with the MIJ Rosewood Telecasters in the 1980s? Tweed, molded, or ?

Thanks!

When I bought mine, it hadda tweed case, but I had to press the issue a little - they brought just a regular plastic case out, and I asked if the guitar didn't come w/ tweed... they 'finally' found one in the back.

So mine was a tweed, but I can't say that ALL of them were tweed... :)

80s vs 90s

Perhaps this practice didn't begin till the 90s, but I didn't think the Rosewood Tele came with a case or bag of any sort. Whatever you wanted had to be purchased separately. I know that was the case (ba da bump) in the 90s, as denoted by the serial number in a '96 brochure that I have. Maybe it was different in the 80s?

Japanese Fenders dont come with a case as part of the price like USA Fenders do.

So chances are most were sold in gig bags no offical case for them at all.
