My local guitar store is in the local news paper....

Here in San Jose, CA, there is a guitar store called Guitar Showcase. The local paper, the San Jose Mercury, ran an article on the store.

They have a neat collection of vintage guitars, which I knew. I did not know, however, that they had guitars played by Hendrix and Santana. None of the guitars are marked that way.

Over the last few years, I have gotten to know Gary, and he is a good guy. Ole Fuzzy knows him too, and can so attest.

Later daze,

Guitar Ed

Best store in the world

I've been shopping at Showcase since they were in the house down the block. Great folks and they treat you with respect.

I bought several guitars and amps from them over the years. They even let me return an amp I bought and I got back the Twin Reverb I traded in. I remember when they were in a little house.

other music related stores in the Bay area

I was living in the area between 1988 and 1993.

There was a store (San Jose or Santa Clara?) called The Starving Musician, I bought a SFDR and a black-painted tweed Champ from them. Anyone in the area know if the Starving Musician is still there?

Another couple of interesting stores in the area, both used records, were Big Al's Record Barn (Santa Clara?) and The Vinyl Solution (Palo Alto?). Some of the pre-printed stickers on records I got from the second were printed The Vinyl Soulution. Anyone in the area know if either of those still there?

I hadn't discovered Guitar Showcase when I was there, sounds like a great store.

I wish we had a guitar shop like that here in Philly.

On second thought, my bank account is probably healthier because we do not.
