51 Esquire on ebay

Here it is . I think that with prices having shot up so fast, we're going to see a lot more of these. Pics are about as bad as usual, maybe a tad(eo) worse.

Truss rod nut

Seller must have followed previous discussion here on the TDPRI of the '51 Telecaster on ebay with what appeared to be a phillips truss rod adjustment nut to state right up front that his guitar has the correct slotted truss rod nut.

Very funny! I'd like this guitar a lot more if had those cool centralab pots the other one had. Is 1951 worth so much more than 1953? www.jayrosen.com has a nice 53 Esquire which I think is in the blackguard book for 29k.

You left out something important - it's a very rare color. Is it worth that much? Dunno. But that vibrato detracts from the value.

I think that those who are deciding to up and sell their beautiful blackguards, should go ahead and atleast seek out a photo student at a reputable university and snap those shots up right. Show it some respect, and give us all some better eye candy. eh!? Anyone else...

I agree, better pics make for more spirited bidding!
Of the guitars that had the best photo results from both my film and digital cameras, those shots were taken outdoors where more natural light provided the best depiction of the actually being there.

As for the Esquire, well, I love 'em. I almost bought one this week but stumbled on pulling the trigger, ended up with an MIM that I can pkeep out in the open and not be too worried about the kids getting at it.

Tonight though, I have spent the last few hours researching Esquires (original and reissues) and I am really gassed up for one right about now. The one a played was a Sunburst and that sole pickup at the bridge really shined - I loved it. The prices I have seen locally though are not as good as MF (after tax is added) and MF has stock on all three colors. I'm up to ordering one right about now... Just a bit more reading first before I do..

Add this one to the not-so-good pictures list Pretty low price for a 56. Looks like he had the whole thing refinished in lacquer though.

'51 Esquire.

"Sold as is, NO returns for any reason". He really has a lot of faith in his guitar... not.

Finish looks a little thick, where's the grain? Granted, the pictures are awful.

Body's a regular body, not the early B'caster kind.

Man, bidding on that would take some cajones!

Price Reduced - Year End Inventory Reduction Sale

Come on, isn't anyone gonna grab this? It's a steal at 30.5k! Let's see, 2 years worth of food and entertainment, a year of college for your kids, a new BMW, or a 51 Esquire, what's your choice?

I'm only short 30,000$

Considering that I just bought a reissue "Esquire" for 500$, maybe I can fundraise the rest. Let's see if save up for a couple of years, never pay another bill, sell all I have and then live on the street, I'll still be short about 20,000$. I'LL BUY IT!!!!!!
You gotta be seriously rich to get that guitar, but if I had the money it would definitely be tempting.

Assuming it is what he says it is...

What's this thing worth? Looks like he's not going to get 30.5k for it. I figure it might sell for 25k, but I really have no idea. All I know is We Buy Guitars paid 51k for that 51 tele with funky electronics.
