JB Player Tele clones

Anyone here owned or played a JBP Tele copy?....Ive seen couple on ebay past couple weeks...a natural grain and sunburst...Very nice looking..and some good reviews on Harmony Central. Also..very cheap..around $149.00 new...Curious to know if it is same quality as a Squier Affinity?/Squier Std?/ or possibly a MIM tele?...thx.

Q:Anyone here owned or played a JBP Tele copy?

the simple answer from me: no to both.

but here's my take on the JB in the link below:

[/url]

-price is fairly low(BIN US $135.00)...don't forget shipping.
-body wood looks like it could be Ash.
several pieces.could be veneered.no guarantees.
-bridge is a top-loader, if that matters to you.
-maaaaan,that headstock is urgly!!heheh.
-the seller claims
it's the BEST of the bunch of Tele clones
he bought to upgrade.
now his project ain't gonna happen,so he's sellin'.

fleaBay - JB Player guitar Tele natural JBP maple neck

my take:

i bought a Squier Std Tele,Vintage Blonde(a little off-color),Rosewood Board,Alinco Pups,good quality-Amer Std-style bridge,
decent tuners,plastic nut,string-thru(and VERY resonant)
Agathis body(a SE Asian pine/mahogany type timber)...weighed it just today...the whole guit
is about 7.5 pounds,so it's not a boat anchor.

i figured i'd mod the hell out of it.

all i did was fuss with the action a little,
changed the Vol + Tone knobs
(OK the 3-way switch too for a CRL),
and cheat and darken up the neck
with a bit of brown kiwi.

no F-Tuners,no F-Neck Plate,
no Vintage 3-Saddle Brass Bridge
(tough swap onto the Squiers i hear,
i could be wrong on that),no Electrosocket Jack Cup,
no Aged Pearl Moto pickguard,no CTS pots,
no NoCaster Pups,Nannette,no Bone Nut,
no Callaham(or Glendale) Knurled Knobs,
and no AllParts TMO-FAT replacement Maple/MapleNeck...yet.

i got it locally.
played it before i bought.
no shipping (did pay a little tax).

paid $120.00 US
i'll still own it in 10 years.

Fender created and supported the design.
-not a clone....body has 50's hard shoulders,
full 1 3/4" thickness....ie vintage Tele dimensions.
-not a rip-off...
(and yeah,i like to save money too...
not preachin at ya.)

the Made in Indonesia Squier Std.Teles since around
2000 or so are really terrific,giggable guitars,imo.
also great platforms for mods, like the MIM Teles
(which oddly enough seem to still ship with ceramic magnet Pups)

why not check one (or three) out...
there are some good deals on fleaBay,and i think you'll find the MII are good enough in quality control that any probs could be fixed after receiving it(ie a good set-up).

another clone you didn't mention is Nelsonic.
they look pretty decent.
i've not played one,tho.
