Just A Little Misleading?

Judge for yourself...

Maybe this guy makes some great guitars,
I don't know but someone was asking me
about this guitar and SOMETHING looked
funny to me. The upper bout for that era
(and it suppose to be a RI inspired, right?) and
electronics for instance seemed wrong.

"The parts used by us are bought from Fender
authorized dealers" doesn't mean that they ARE
actually FENDER PARTS. I'm no expert, but the
PIXS and the wording in the auction seemed a
LITTLE funny.

LINK SHORTENED BY WEBMASTER

Maybe this gentleman is a member here.
And like I said, maybe he makes a great guitar
but to the untrained eye it could be a bit confusing?

I mean, if it's an ALL PARTS kit, SAY SO!
(WARMOTH is better IMHO)

The relicing looks extremely cheesy. Neck has 6" radius?! - oh, really?

He's specific...

in saying the neck, body & pups are licensed Fender parts.
Looks pretty straight forward to me.

51 Teles didnt have the exposed screws to adjust the neck pickup it was underneath. Thats the 1st mistake I saw.

Its just a parts guitar worth about $350 tops.

Or non-slotted tuner posts, or Noiseless pickups, and, and, and...

For a "Replica", that thing misses the mark by quite a ways.

And that's gotta be some of the worst relicing I've seen (in an understated way). Usually a bad relic job is where somebody got out the belt sander and hammer and went to town on a poly body, going way over the top. This one is such an un-reliced relic it's not even funny. The chrome? Come on. And what was he trying to simulate on the neck wear, 50 years of dirty hands?

"Break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar."

Yeesh!

Yes, because you and I understand that "Fender licensed components" means they were manufactured by a third party under license, and not by Fender.

But does the average eBay buyer understand that?

"Fender "Noiseless" vintage like pick-ups with the DC resistance of 8.6 at the bridge and 12.0 at the neck"

Is it just his clueless incorrect description, or does he think they had "noiseless" pups for teles in '51? And what's up with those DC readings? Also, that relic job is a joke.

I don't think he is trying t otrick people based on the fact that in bigger font he says, "This Telecaster captures the essence of most all the features of the '51 as a true replica"

He states it is a replica in the first couple of lines, which have a larger font.

Everyone...do yourself a favor and look through his feedback and see the stuff that he bought in the recent past:
"RELIC YOUR FENDER STRAT VINTAGE CUSTOM SHOP SECRETS CD"
...LOL!
A must-have for every respected luthier...especially those that have been building & setting up guitars since 1966!

Replica means just that, and this ain't one

That guitar does not capture "the essence of most all the features of the '51." Not even close. It's a cheap partscaster. The tuners, pickguard, pickups, etc are all wrong.

He should have called it a telecaster-style partscaster. We all know why he makes the reference to a '51 telecaster, and that is to trick some unsuspecting newbie into paying a little more for it than it is worth.

$743.99...

I seem to remember an old phrase attributed to P.T. Barnum...

Something about "There's a sucker born every minute"...

It certainly is a seller's market up there on The Bay...

Two things wrong (in addition to the others posted):

The '51s used .05 uF caps, not .022uF.

The disclaimer states, "We do not imply to sell Fender guitars." Sorry, but if you slap a Fender decal on the headstock, then you ARE implying it is a Fender guitar, even if you claim it is not. At least, that is how Fender sees it.

That is not an Allparts neck, my guess is Mighty-Mite. Probably the stew-mac special.
