Gatton's tone pot
I was watching Danny's Hot Licks video and he was talking about his tone pot and showing how he did those wah-type licks.
He said he tried several tone pots before he found one with such a quick sweep. I'm sure the Bardens have a lot to do with it, but has anybody been able to cop these licks? If so, what kind of pot/pup are ya using? I can't seem to get a very pronounced effect out of my stock 50's classic. But I'm not D.Gatton sooo..... Thanks. |

That's funny. Are you getting much out of the video? Everytime I turn it on I'm just amazed and end up watching the whole thing through.
A lot of the theory stuff floats right over my head, but I pick up bits and pieces. |

Yeah, it's not like I stop every lick and learn it. i stop for some, and then I just watch the ret of the section. then I go over and apply some of the learning and kind of make it my own. So I can't say I'm learning Danny TGatton's licks, but I am learning from Danny. It's really cool. How about you?
I picked up both his discs, plus James Burton. The only other one I had prior was Setzer. They're all good. |

jdfoosh357,
Man same here, and I am pretty good about learning from videos and books. I generally take a disciplined approach and dont move on until I have mastered everything. When I put on the dvd I had my tele in my hands, and just sat there making no sound other than my jaw falling into my lap. It took me a long time to "get" Gatton, but man he is so scary, truly "The Humbler" Jesse |

So far I've just watched the video one time through..........funny, I had tele in hand and I didn't play a lick either.
This isn't a "Top 40 Danny Gatton Licks" video, but it has a lot to offer, if I ever take the time and the brain power. |
