Sometimes life just sucks

Well, I thought I had a win. Bought a set of Muddy Waters Tele pickups from someone who changed them out.

When I got them, they were in the box his replacements were sent in. Unfortunatey, the screws and hardware was loose in the bottom. The foam around the pickups didn't prevent them getting screws and springs stuck to them. The bridge pickup got the little windings around the back of the bobbin broken, and also the enamel wire running to the hot lead. I should be able to solder than one back, with care.

Unfortunately the neck pickups got screws and springs stuck under the edge of the cover - Aussie Post must have been playing football with it. I can see broken/loose windings on both sides, and it reads 5kohm. So it needs a complete rewind.

Fortunately the seller is being reasonable and offering a refund. I'm tempted to keep them if the seller is agreeable to a part refund, and have a go at rewinding the neck pickup myself, as it has fibre bobbins and A5 magnets.

Whose fault?

If the pickups were packed and despatched with reasonable care, and the postal service mistreated the package, surely you should complain to them, not to the seller?

Don't take this the wrong way, but a little perspective:

You didn't lose everything you had to Katrina (or another natural disaster),

You don't have cancer,

(hopefully) none of your loved ones have cancer(or other disease),

You woke up this morning.

(you get the point)...

Life does not suck. True- we all feel like "bad luck" singles us out from time to time, but life does not suck.

But, we do feel your "pain"- we've all had a similar screw-up with gear at one time or another!

That isn't the really the point.. I could go into a big rant about how the little things always make you feel worse than the big things, but I won't.

Actually, that IS the point: don't sweat the small stuff, and REALIZE that MOST stuff IS small stuff... Off of my soapbox now; continue to be miserable at will.

Ruger9 - I think you might be reading a bit too much into this! Dacious is not having a 'moan' as such - he's just letting us know about something that has happened which I'm sure he has found to be most frustrating. It has happened to most of us at sometime, and I know just how p*ssed off Dacious must be feeling.

Perhaps his choice of title for the thread was a little 'over the top', but he could hardly have been expected to head it up "The most fantastic thing happened to me when I opened my mail this morning", could he?

Dacious - I'm with ya, buddy - yep, "life" sure does seem to suck when you are eagerly awaiting something and it arrives damaged. Been there, got the teeshirt.........

No, it's not all that bad, I agree. Obviously not worthy of comment.

Of course it's worthy of comment.

It's just not the end of the world.

Dacious - just goes to show- there's just no pleasing some folks!

I think this is what they call a "no win" situation......
