Charlotte Stores

Charlotte has a couple big box stores, GC, and Sam Ash.

But if you are interested in "local flavor", check out these stores that are a short drive from Charlotte.

Drive up I-85 to Concord NC, approx 35 min, and see

Mullis Music. Used and Vintage elecs and acoustics.

Mullis Music, 31 Union St S, Concord, NC 28025-5009 704-788-2515

About an hour out of CLT on I-85,exit 68, is Coleman Music, 1021 S.Main St, China Grove
(704)857-5705
New, Used, and vintage

Drive up I-77 to Statesville NC, approx 45 min, and see Harry & Jeannie West's acoustic shop. Exit I-77 at Broad street and go west into town.

Fond memories of Jimmy Saviano, Alan Burton and the gang from Reliable Music. RIP

Yea, they had their own store, Action Music, back in the early 90s. Sadly, infighting took its toll.

In addition to the ones mentioned above:

South Boulevard is packed with pawn shops. They aren't always well stocked, but I've spotted lots of bargains there in the past year or so.

There's a small shop, the LA Guitar Factory, that builds custom jazz boxes and a few other styles.

Maverick Music sells ultra-high end vintage and celebrity owned stuff...you may have to make an appointment to get in there. Check out their website. I've never been in to see them, but I'm constantly shocked at the inventory on their site.

Gastonia is a 20 minute ride away on 85. It's home to a few small shops and lots of pawn shops. Bobby's Pawn on Franklin is my favorite. Most of the stores are on that same street, but spread out from one end of the city to the other.

If you're into high end amps and shred axes, Splawn Guitars is in Dallas, just north of Gastonia. Scott Splawn has a great reputation for his Marshall mods and his own amps and speaker cabs. His stuff is very popular on a few of the other less twangy forums that I visit.
