Looks good to me, but the pics are not very clear. Ask the seller to email you pics of the headstock decal, the headstock back and the neck plate.
It does not look to me like the pics are unclear by design. |

Can't Really Say For Sure
but I'd be very suspicious for two reasons-
1- the ad says the CASE is made in Corona California (the way it could be read-might just be poor use of english on the part of the seller too). And.. 2-there are no close-ups of the guitar, particularly those areas which one usually submits as proof of authenticity: headstock, serial number, neck and neck pocket markings, fret board (some here, like Ol Fuzzy can tell you a boatload of stuff just by looking at the neck. I'm not that good myself..) I see you've already bid- be careful. I'd ask for some closeups. Then again, for the price it might be a nice axe anyway-your call. Brian

Right- and the body looks great- looks like a nice piece of ash. So like I said- at that price you'll probably get a great axe either way. Hey- let us know how you make out.

According to Mr. Gearhead
the "Z" prefix began in 2000. And a Z followed by 0 and five or six numbers afterward is a 2000 USA made tele.
Sounds like you are doing very well so far... :D Brian

Talking about crappy pictures. The bridge is definitively MIA and the serial number corresponds to a MIA as well. It should be fine. My only problem is that I think natural ash only comes with a maple neck (see here; scroll down; at the end).

I really hope you can get it as cheap a possible and that it turns out to be the real deal. Good luck.

Although the numbers are right . . . I'm doubtful about it for some reason.
It's the wood grain . . . I have a Natural finish (721) American Standard, and the grain doesn't look anything like that. I used to have a Strat with a Natural finish, and it didn't look like that! It looks weird! But of course, I yield that not all the wood that goes into making a gutiar comes from the same tree! |

It looks like a nice piece of wood but the grain is a little too pronounced. Are you thinking aftermarket body? If it had a butterscotch finish I'd say it looked closer to the grain patterns on a 52 RI.
Maybe one of the experts will chime in- I'm curoius now.
