Custom Shop Double bound Tele

I bought a Tele in Australia which has instantly become my main guitar. It sounds and looks great but I have no certificate of authenticity. Can anybody help me confirm it is genuine.

Serial Number on neck plate CN400533

It is doublebound with sunburst front and back
Three ply white pick guard
Rosewood fretboard
Cutom Shop logo stamped neck plate and decal on back of headstock
Gold hardware (well worn)

If it is not genuine will still be a great guitar, just want to know for $$$ reasons Please Help

The Fender site is probably a better place to look for serial number information. Click on any guitar then click on support and look for product dating. It doesn't actually list serial dating of Custom Shop guitars. The CNXXXXXX number shows up under "Odd Serial Numbers" as being made in Korea. However, I wouldn't put much faith in that.
If you're concerned whether it's actually a Custom Shop guitar, I'd put more faith in the neck plate and logo on the back of the headstock. I would remove the neck and look for clues on the neck heel and in the neck pocket.
A picture would be helpful.

Are definitely a bit more eclectic than production numbers. My CS Donahue, for example, has a serial number of JDxxx. Limited runs are often just denoted with the name of the run on the neck plate (RB Classic for instance) then a number like 03of20 as the serial number. Your number seems like a totally legit CS number for a "price sheet" guitar made in 1994. The CS sparkle casters and American Classic Teles I've seen have used this same numbering scheme.

While none of this proves the guitar is authentic perhaps it helps relieve your worries by knowing that the number is valid. Or did you have some other reason for being suspicious?

Thanks for all your help, I will follow up on all your advice and repost result. As far as posting a picture, I would love to, I just haven't figured out how to do it yet.

This has got to be the easiest way to post pictures here.

Register at photobucket.com . Upload your pictures there. Under each thumbnail of your uploaded pictures are three lines............ Url, Tag, and Img. Highlight and copy the Img line. Paste it into your TDPRI post ...............that's it.

Believe it or not this Tele on Ebay is almost exactly the same exept mine has gold hardware and the neck is nicely flamed. I will still post a picture of mine soon. This also reassures me that it is the real deal. Thanks again for all you help.
