That's a great one...
I'm a big Pete Anderson fan, especially from this era. This was recorded in 1987/88 and came out right around the time of Buenos Noches From a Lonely Room, his 3rd record. This was probably my favorite line up Dwight had. I really like Jim Christies drumming, Pete's playing, and Brantly Kerns has been one of my favs for a long time. Tom Brumley played steel on just about all of Dwight's early records. Great stuff! AND this is when Pete was using real amplifiers on records!

Those are Deluxe Reverbs he's playing through. What's amazing is that there are a few times in that video that you'd swear there was someone playing pedal steel. It's one thing to play steel licks on a guitar, but it's another altogether to totally nail the sound of that instrument to the wall.

This is a good one...
Small room, up close, real deal... Pete on a rosewood neck esquire and a couple of BFDRs... Dwight frontin' a real country band playin' his Martin (and he can play it), and Pete givin' a lesson in chickin Pickin and twangin'... Most of the time Pete plays to the song, and he is a consumate backup player... Then he steps out a few times and shows how it's done...
For the price of admission you even get Buck Owens walkin' on for "Streets of Bakersfield" playing the silver sparkle tele... It's hard to believe this taping was done 18 years ago... I remember how hip and fresh Dwight/Pete's stripped down sound seemed then vs the overproduced mush heard on alot of other country recordings... |
