Iridium!!! Brent Mason with Les Paul and Billy G. - some pix
11/15/05- I posted some new pictures on this website:
Brent Mason, Billy Gibbons, Les Paul Anyone in the tri-state area; I believe he'll be playing the 10 o'clock show Monday night. You can reserve a ticket in advance by calling the Iridium and giving them your info over the phone. There are a few TDPRI guys that let me know they may be going. If you make a reservation, drop me a PM or post and let me know who's going and we can try to get a table together. You can look at the interview Kewlpack posted recently, and can see what Blue Water Girl had to say. I just saw Les Paul in October, here's some pictures from the show my friend took: Les Paul October Les Paul is really a great performer at 90 years old this year! I'm sure it will be a fantastic show with Brent so don't miss it! :D |

Late show
Frank, I apologize (since you were the person that actually asked the question) but I think my email to you got bounced. I talked to Julie over the weekend. She said that Brent will be there for the first show though unable to visit as he'll be paying close attention to the band. Then he will play with them during the second show. I'm assuming that's the 10:00 show? Hey, that's all the practice any of us need, right? It's probably all going to be simply 1-4-5 stuff anyway. No??
I doubt I'll be able to make this as I'll be returning from Cape Cod on Monday, but I hope you all have a great time and I hope the Hudson Valley contingent is well represented.

I think there might be four of us so far!
This has got to be a rare show as I don't believe Brent gets to NYC too often. I think there are four of us so far, don't wait too long to get a reservation for this show! Come on you tele guys, how can you miss this one?
Send me a PM - Frank |

I look forward to meeting you Frank, and anybody else from the tdpri! Please make sure you all introduce yourselves! I hope you aren't expecting the sort of show Brent would normally put on with a rehearsed band. (PLUS - this is the Great Les Paul's show, Brent is just a guest) Les Paul's band doesn't know any of Brent's songs, they might be working some of them up I don't know. Les told Brent last night he wants him to play a few by himself, so Brent is right now in the bedroom practicing some songs and will have to play his own bass line like Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Lenny Breau. One of Brent's big claims to fame is that he can also do that with great skill, but hasn't had to in a while, and he is such a perfectionist he will probably spend some of the time we have to sightsee in the hotel working on this until he feels it is perfect. It had better not cut into the time that we planned to go to the International Soup Kitchen (the Soup N@zi place from Seinfeld - it's a real place!!!) because I have been practicing how to follow all the rules of ordering soup like they had to do in Seinfeld.
We are heading out in a few hours to New York, so I guess I will see you Monday night! |

Got my ticket...
...never pass up a chance to see great performers in NYC if I can manage it.
Bruce - put that guitar down and get out to the show! Frank - did you get that sticker off the Martin, was there a "tan line" under it? Enquiring minds want to know...

oh manohmanohmanohman do I want to go! any chance that we could get Brent & Les rescheduled to a Friday or Saturday night? I'm a teacher now, I can't be out until midnight and still be 3 hours from home on a school night anymore :)
26th at the Rodeo Bar looks promising, though.

Man, next week is just a bear for me. I'm working late Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday we're taking our daughter to the Big Apple Circus.
If I can somehow squeeze Monday night in, I'll do it. But that means that the slim chance I have of making Mikey's birthday jam is approaching zero........

Most of us know Les Paul's routine, it's always great to see him perform. I'm hoping Brent gets to play at least 3 or 4 songs with Les Paul. Enjoy the City, I'm looking forward to Monday night. Fullerplast - nice picture, was that taken recently? |

Removing Decals From Wall or Glass Whatever method you use, first test the cleaning/removal material in an inconspicuous part of the surface the label is stuck on the be sure it will not damage that surface. In a small pan, warm a small amount of vinegar. Fold a pad of cloth large enough to cover the decal. Soak the fabric in the hot vinegar and apply to the decal. Hold in place for a couple of minutes, or fasten soaked pad on vertical surface with masking tape. When thoroughly saturated, the decal will peel off with no damage to paint, and no scraping will be necessary. GOO GONE, NOT GOOF-OFF!!!
Frank -
Goo Gone is the stuff I meant to suggest, not Goof-Off. Goo Gone is citrus based and disolves glue and such. Goof-Off is a nasty chemical that removes dried paint! I think peanut butter will work as well. I recently removed a sticker from an old Music Man Sabre, was on there since the 80's at least. Nothing worked until I used a liquid called Micro-Gloss, an ultra fine polishing compound. Rubbed with a soft flannel cloth, and it removed the sticker completely and left a mirror finish. Depending on how much lacquer you have left on the Martin, it may an alternative way to go... I believe the MM finish was lacquer. Micro-Gloss info: http://www.sisweb.com/micromesh/micr...tm#Micro-Gloss

Review Please
Folks: Please give us a review of the show. I have made the pilgrimage to see Les a couple of times. Lester is a great guitar player and a great guy to boot!
Hopefully Brent will get to play a couple of tunes with Les and Lou. I bet Brent has great time tonight. Brass Saddles/Paul G. Boston, MA. |

I'm in NYC for the Int'l Hotel Show and it looks like I'm going to be able to make the gig. Does anyone have an opinion about whether or not I should buy a ticket online or take a chance that seats will be available at the door? I've not been to the Iridium before.
Thanks. |

(I'm completely kidding, by the way, there is just no comparison). Lucky. I would love to see Brent and Les togehter or separate. Let us know how it went. I was playing at the Schaumburg Library and couldn't make it. :?

Great show! Brent was on fire and Les really was impressed-not an easy thing to do! Brent got to show off his jazz chops, fingerstyle, and country pickin' complete with a bit of B-bender action! Really fine playing and the band got into it too. Brent was allowed to use his tele since he had a Gibson mini in the neck PU.
As an added bonus, Billy Gibbons also showed up to play a couple of numbers but seemed a bit out of his element. All in all, a great time was had by all, and I think Les especially had a good time himself, plus he played an extra long set for the late show. Best of luck to Brent on the CMA's! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
