American Nashville B-Bender Telecaster
Hi to all:
I have the above guitar and I'm currently finding the B-Bender to be a little noisy (spring sound). In the manual, it says that there is nothing in the bender system that can be serviced other than by a Fender shop. Has anyone else had a noisy bender and what dids you do about it? Thanks, Doug. |

It's not the spring...
What you're hearing in the string going over the bridge saddle. I use a drop of carmex lipbalm on the bridge saddle. Some people use gun oil or grease from their nose. Whatever works! That's what your problem is.

I have the same sound
what I find is that a new string removes the noise. As the string ages the springy stretchy sound eventually returns. I haven't tried the lube idea yet, i will give that a try too.

Gene Parsons told me to use 30w motor oil on the Parsons Green...I actually use my wife's sewing machine oil...or household 3-1 oil..just a drop...verrrry sparingly...I use a pin, or the end of a guitar string...it doesnt take alot..on the saddle and the slot in the nut for the B string...makes a big difference.
The Stringbender website has a section on care, feeding and maintenance of the Parsons Green bender... http://www.stringbender.com/Bender/FBBtec.htm There are adjustments you can make, like the slight rotation of the bender hub, that drastically improve the workings of the bender.... |

I read this somewhere
years ago. Take a pencil, and rub some of the led on the area where the string meets the roller. Before and aft. Seems to work for me. It is a little more controlable than oil.
