tremelo

I'm not incredibly informed about all things telecaster, and was wondering if any models come stock with a tremelo bridge. I really like the different pulls and taps you can do with a whammy bar, and think it'd be sweet to have on a tele. Any ideas?

You may want to look into a Telecaster Deluxe. They produced a trem version in '74. Then you could allways get a Tele with a Bigsby.

Andy, you are a man after my own heart--Teles with vibratos! (Not Bigsbys.)

You can go about getting one several ways--Like fenderrookie said, Fender issued the Telecaster Deluxe back in the mid-'70s, some of which have a Strat-style vibrato. Then, in the early '90s, Fender issued the Telecaster Deluxe Plus, which also has a Strat-style vibrato.

There is a great company called USA Custom Guitars, located up in Tacoma, Washington, headed up by a great guy named Tommy Rosamond. He can custom rout a Tele-style body with a Strat-style vibrato for you at a very reasonable price (around $200 or so)--I'm about to get him to do one for me.

Then, there are the occasional custom jobs done by individuals--I got this from legendary TDPRI member 0le FUZZY:

I hope you can find something to your liking!

Happy hunting,
Joel

I've got two of the Tele Deluxe Pluses

One is a '91, the other a '92, and I think they're great guitars. Much prefer this sort of tremolo to the Bigsby. The Bigsbys I've played have been pretty heavy and were a bit difficult to tune.

Somebody needs to make a Strat trem bridge that will accomodate 3 brass compensated saddles.

Man- there was one on ebay a while back, that was a custom order job from Callaham. Looked really cool too.
Had the standard strat block and bridge plate, but with 3 compensted brass saddles. I'll bet they'll make you one..

Wanted to bid but it went for around $100, and I wasn't sure what I'd use it for at the time...

I called Callaham about a year ago (maybe more), and they said they couldn't make one. Maybe things have changed?

I emailed him around Christmas time, and he said he could do it, but I changed my mind.

I'd like to get my hands on one of those...it would be great with a Tele. I'll have to drop a line to Bill Callaham.
