Trading a case of beer for a pawn ticket on a '52 RI
My poor pal pawned it to keep his car running and has had a run of bad luck since. So he offered me the pawn ticket since he know's I'll play the heck out of the thing. I'm throwing the beer in just to help him ease the pain the old fasioned way.
Sadly, between living paycheck to paycheck, having 5 kids, a few lawyer fees... I must sell my Strat to free the '52 RI. I feel guilty since I've had that Strat for 8 years, but the '52 RI is a nice find. It's an '88 or '89 and clean. My strat is aweful tele-like. Natural ash body and a one peice maple neck, way brighter than my Thinline. Oh well. I'm more of a tele guy anyway. It'll go nicely along side my '69 Thinline RI. |

Keep the Strat, go get your friend, try to pool enough money to get the thing out of pawn and put it in a classified or eBay. I'm sure you'll both come out better than whatever the pawn shop gave him for it.
Of course, I don't know you or him, but I'm going to guess that, even if you wind up with the '52 RI for a case of beer, neither of you are going to forget whose it was initially, and that may cause some tension (especially since he apparently gave it up over some hard luck). And believe me, I know hard luck. But that's another series of stories, and I won't bore you with them. |

I guess I should mention that it's the same way I got my '72 Pro Reverb, and from the same guy...
He'll be fine. He got his old turquoise blue Epiphone Casino back from me recently, and I got my '72 Bassman 10 from him as well... Gear has bounced back and forth between us for years... |

Re-pawn
Not sure how the shops are in your neck of the woods, but out here if you pay the interest on the loan it'll roll the release date back to the original terms of the loan.
IE: $300 dollar loan for 4 months, pay the interest & it gives you another 4 months before it's due. Hope that made sense.
