Anyone got a 90's Thinline Tele?

I'd love one of these guitars. Is there one about, ebay etc.? If you got one, tell me about it!

Hi there,

I had this one:

This was one of the few that in retrospect, I really regret selling. I thought it was a very fine instrument, a real "gentleman's" tele, if that makes any sense. It just felt so nicely crafted. Chimed like a champ too. And of course, it was weightless.

I have been keeping my eye on eBay for quite a while for one of these, and I missed out on one about 2 months ago. They seem to have gotten a bit more expensive on eBay since I bought and sold mine, but then again, they don't come up very often. I'd say this model is an overlooked gem. But it isn't cheap, I think the list was ~$1900 when new, so that may account for the scarcity of them in general.

Great guitar, I hope you get to play one.

I've had a natural finish one for about 4 years. Love the neck. Mine is not that light. It plays well & is probably my favorite at this point. It comes with modern frets which I really prefer.
I've changed the pickups in it to a Duncan Vintage Firebird neck & a Barden Tele bridge which is the same setup I've run for many years in my 71.
Great guitar.

Wonderful guitar you have there. The stock pickups were just American Standard tele pups in that one. I liked 'em fine, but it depends on what flavors you're looking for. It sounds like you've got a great combination in yours. And you realize you have two ready buyers in this thread alone when the time comes. :) :)

I've got one in Transparent Orange. I bought it in '01 (last year of production) and it's still my main axe. I changed the pups to Fralin Vintage Hots, but I may put the stock ones back in. It seems they were a little hotter and sounded better for what I play. It's a comfortable and great playing guitar. They don't seem to turn up very often, and when they do, it seems they're pretty pricy.

They come in a RW neck flavor too. I've been looking for a while....even had a "guitar wanted" ad up. They appear to be pretty rare, or so well liked by their owners that they rarely show up on the used market.

I have seen the natural finish/tortoise guard version on eBay a couple of times. Myself, I'm holding out for the burst/RW neck.

Happy hunting....but don't buy one I'm going for!

They are MIM and they're pretty decent, pretty abundant, and not too pricey.

I don't like the pups but a lot of people do. They're the stock Fender Vintage I believe. Necks are 7.25 radius.

Jim reed in Italy made some fine Tele Thinline models available with rosewood or maple fingerboard. They're not too expensive because you can order it directly from the factory. This model with Kent Armstrong pickups & hardcase cost only 500 $
