Simon Katz Telecaster - who knows something?
Hi everyone!!!
I'm a fresher on TDPRI... I mean, just registered member, but I use this recourse for a long time unregistered and I think TDPRI is the best place to communicate with all Telecaster fans all over the world! I'm glad that I'm a part of this community now! And... men, would you be so kind to help me? I just hope you know something about former Jamiroquai guitarist Simon Katz and, especially, his blonde fat Tele... I'm going crazy when I hear his sound on live shows... Maybe somebody knows something about his guitar... please, somebody?.. |

Oh! Thanks for replies guys :)
Ye-es, it looks exactly like a MIM Tele Special... on this photo for example... ![]() ...and I know that it's not a California Fat Tele, because I have a '96 live video where this axe can be seen (California Series started in'97). BUT! Is it possible that such a famous person uses a MIM Tele, especially on live performances? Is the quality of MIM Tele Special so high? You know.. I don't want to say that MIM Teles are bad guitars but... well... people I know usually said that Mexicans are good for practice and... small performances, but not for big live concerts... Maybe he plays on a custom guitar? Which other performers do you know who use MIM's? Nick Fanis, why not? I thought if I want the same sound structure, the same esthetic of sound, I need the same Tele... or I needn't? P.S. gls500, who is David Hamburger? P.P.S. Sorry for my English guys... It's not perfect... |

No info on the tele ... but agreeing that Simon got a great Tele tone on those first two albums (and probably others - I just never heard them). I was a newbie guitar player when those records came out - and thought that Stratocasters and Les Pauls were the only guitars that mattered. I thought Teles were "worse" than Strats because three pickups are better than two!
Anyway - he was one one of the first Tele players I really noticed, quite unlike the players we talk about most of the time! Those chords on Scam were the best ... |
