Another Japan Fender question

I have been looking at Japan Fenders for a while, and am thinking about selling my MIA tele, to get a Fender Japan '52 tele with the humbucker (like Keef).

I know that they make some damn fine guitars, but why is there such a color difference between the following 2 guitars, when it is the same model?

http://www.gear-review.co.uk/reviews/keith/2.jpg
and...
http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/image/3169657023.jpg

that guitar runs about $450, plus $125 to ship it to the US. By the time I change out the pups on it, I would be about even in the spending department, maybe even save a little (the more the mairrer with the wife!!)

Any ideas?

Any one know which pic is more acurate?

Could be just the photograph. Have Ishibashi send you a pic of the guitar you're getting, whiich they will do. Tell them what you want and they'll do as much as they can to get you exactly what you want.

American guitar retailers could learn a lot from Ishibashi. But then FMIC could learn a lot from Fender Japan and Fuju Gen Gakki.

You will NOT be sorry getting the Japanese guitar.

One is blonde transparent and the other is natural, they are two totally different colours. You want the natural one.

But how can that be when they are both the TL52-80SPL model, which according to the fender japan website, is only offered in 1 color? :?

In the catalogs there are 2 models, the other is 3 tone burst... I have a F/USA custom shop that was built for the Japanese market.
FJ often makes guitars as special runs for chain stores here, the natural may be one of those. The blonde is the color I`ve seen in stores in Japan.

There are two '52 style "Keef" Teles on Ishibashi'

There's a TL52-80SPL in Off-White Blonde on the main Fender Japan Telecaster page.

Then there's the another TL52-80SPL in Vintage Natural on the "Kanda" model page.

I guess they did a special run of those in the natural color. Thanks for your help. :D

Apparently the one I been looking at that I started this thread over, the darker one, is a used model of a special run from fender.

for me used is the only way to go. I`ve found some unbelievable bargains in the used dept. The latest was a JV...Japan Vintage... strat from the early 80s for less than $250.oo. I bought al all rosewood, an all walnut tele, the 40th anniversary ST54-AS-150...thats the one with genuine flame maple neck not the hamburglar version...and I could go on but I`m beginning to bore myself.

What is the quality of these guitars? i have seen them listed on ebay as custom shop guitars. But @ $600(much more on ebay) I don't see as how they can be. How do they sound and are the pup's and good? Are the tuners and electronics any good?

The quality is top-notch, Jimmy. Believe me, you're getting a real deal when you buy a Japanese Fender. The tuners are good. A lot of people change out pickups and electronics in their Japanese Fenders, but I keep mine stock and love 'em.

Ditto to that.

I've had a few good Teles but my CIJ is the best of the bunch.
