Finally jamming in the Hudson Valley again!
After a much longer break than I anticipated or would've liked, I'm back to scheduling jams at my home in Hurley. Have we even done one yet in 2005, or was the last one at the end of '04? In any event.
Jam 1 will be Saturday, October 29th. For those who can't make that or simply want to jam again, we'll be doing another on Saturday, November 19th, my 45th BD!! For those who have attended these jams before tell all your friends how awesome they are. And that's not a pat on my back. Alot of great people have just caused these events to take on a life of their own. For newcomers; we get started between 11 and Noon, and usually play electric till about 6, sometimes later. We do follow rules to keep the volume and wasted time in check, but none of these rules are at all restrictive nor do they do anything to blunt the fun of the day. Amps range from Princetons to Pro Reverbs, Deluxe Reverbs and Viboroluxes are ideal size and volume wise. If you're willing to sing you get preferred treatment. My wife usually serves up enough food to feed the Warped Tour. In all the years we've been doing these we've yet to encounter an "ego". Fair warning that this is one thing up with which we will not put. Email me to let me know if you might be coming and on which date(s). If you need directions to my house in Hurley, NY (between Kingston and Woodstock) I'm happy to provide them. It's a real easy drive. Looking forward to seeing you all and finally playing a guitar again!

I've been gigging alot between Poughkeepsie and New Rochelle for the past several months. Great players out your way!
I'm in Connecticut and not gigging that weekend. If newbies to TDPRI are welcome, I just might show my ugly mug! btw, I have hosted 10 jams in Beacon Falls CT over the past 4 years for people from the "Tweedscape" forum and the other one with the black background. I will be hosting another one soon. All are welcome.

The Dogs is in for 10/29. Nov. 19, is NG - but I'm thinking of getting out of my obligation for that day too. Pretty sure Inertian is in (he gave me a heads up on this one).
As a relative "newcomer" (just under two years now), who went to my first HVJ cold and knowing no one, all I can say is you won't find a nicer group of tele pickers or more gracious hosts. Quote:

At last!
Mike, I was wondering where you'd been... I was just saying to my wife yesterday, "you know, it's been a long time since the last tele session in Hurley...."
I pencilled in both dates. I don't know if I can make both... lots of other things going on, what with a 1-year-old and me trying to finish my thesis and doing an internship in Albany... but I really miss playing and I'm going to try to make it to at least one of the dates. Thanks for hosting the event again... and whatever's been going on in your life, I hope it's turned out well -Todd |

All is well
This time my long absence is a sign of (almost) nothing but good. For those who haven't been around long I was a regular on this board a few years back that suddenly dropped out of sight when my house burned down! This time it's been entirely due to work and kids. Since my office is in the house I've been Mr. Mom for several years now, and I'm loving every minute of it. Business has been absolutely booming (small website design company) so until the kids got back in school I didn't have a spare minute. The only dark spot is my father-inl-law's Parikinson's which has kept us all busy as well trying to lend a hand.
Newbies are more than welcome BTW, and special thanks to Tony Dogs for noticing that Mikey don't never end a sentence with a preposition!!

Glad to hear things are good
...except for your father-in-law, of course. We've had some family health issues too... I guess everyone does at some point. Hope to see you soon, and I'll try to convince Ronda to come and bring Ruby (the young 'un).

Had fun at the L.I. jam & wish I could go to this one too but I've gotta assistant babysit- er, I mean coach- my older girl's soccer team that day. No way I'm getting out of that one unfortunately, but you know what I'd rather be doing.
11/19 is very possible though.

I'm pretty sure I'm in for Nov. 19, and might even be able to make it later in the day on Oct 29. Tom, if you play bass, what instrument am I going to use to keep from embarassing myself by playing guitar?!

Groovy!
I'll have to make sure I have some charts from the Monkees and the Partridge Family.

Hey Mikey, did you get my email about the shows coming up at the Egg? Sometimes your emails get grabbed by yahoo and chucked aside, so if you wrote back I didn't get it.

About #*&^!@*#@ time, Mike! I'll be coming up on the 29th with Ian and T-Dogs and our collective guitars, basses, saxes and Godfather impressions. The 19th, however, is iffy. We'll see... Happy birthday regardless. |
