So Cal Tele Jam 11/12

Well,
Twangmeister is calling for a meeting of the tele tribe in So Cal. Distinguished tele members from the right coast will be in So Cal so we thought a gathering might be in order. The possibilities could be Thursday night 6pm-10pm on the 10th of Nov. or Saturday from Noon to 6pm on the twelfth. I am trying to get a consesus on what time frame could work best for the multitudes.
The studio is Amp Rehearsal in No. Hollywood on Lankershim.
The usual parameters apply, junk food, tons of gear and no more then 18 guitar players at once on stage. Bring your rythmn sections and singers as well.
Can I get a show of hands (holding up #1 or #2 fingers for the dates)((or if you have to go)).
If anyone is in touch with previous attendees who may not be here with us any more, could you pass along the word.
Thanks

I may try to make that, if I can convince a couple of Socal compadres to show up.

I'm in San Jose so it's a haul, I'd probably come down the night before, but I might enjoy it.

Larry, I have a really great drummer that wants to come play. The sooner we lock in a date the better chance of him making it. Now don't get offended, but I may get a few of my Line 6 dogs to make it. Some may even have a Tele!

Saturday is the best

Hey Larry,

How are ya doing?

BTW parking is difficult, but you can load in and then move your car to a classified location, usually within walking distance.:-)

I may have to teach until 2 that day, but will come up directly.

Hey Alvin, you up for a visit to the city?

I can't say which would be best for me, I won't have my work schedule for then til much later. Thursday is most likely, but maybe not. Anyway, thanks for taking the bull by the horns. (Though the old spot is now within walking distance of where I live, North Hollywood ain't too bad either!)

If I don't have to work, I'll be there. Set the time, and maybe I can influence my schedule, I could probably for sure get the Thursday off in advance.

Associating with known felons is a clear cut violation of your parole, and it will put you back in the slammer quicker than you can say "cuddle time with Bubba."

Larry, the big room again?

Rick, it may not be loud enough, but if you wanna play the ADA Rocket A20R we fought over on eBay, I'll bring it. It's only about 12-15w.

Yowza!

Thanks for being the ringleader on this, Larry! I'll email Joe and see if he can reserve time that afternoon, although I think he's staying down behind the Orange Curtain. I'll also contact a few bass players and drummers to see if they'll turn out for snack foods and too much high end, heh heh.

Maybe we should set up the amps with tubes on one side, "digital modeling devices" on the other!
(Andy, who loves ya...maybe I'll even have my blue Tele back by then, you'll have your Strat, we can rescue Timmy out of the well and Granny can have her operation.....)

OK, I think I'm late for my medication........

Count me in for Saturday!

I'll bring a few players too, but be forgiving of a couple of em: they dont play Tele's. I know I know, I shouldnt hang with that type, but I'm tryin to educate em!

Oh hey Larry, you gonna take any donations to help defray the costs? Let me know, I wanna help. It may only be 10 bucks, but its something!

Well Jere, I guess that means I'll be in the middle, since it'll be a POD powering 2 EL-84 Atomics.

Hmmmm, yes, I forgot....the Atomics!

I dread to think what would happen if North Korea harnessed that energy! :P And a mighty sound it is, too, mateys.......

Sounds like there's gonna be a ton of pickers. Any suggestion as to how we might better organize ourselves so it's not a Blooze Jam in E for 6 hours?

Yo, Wicked! LMAO!

Based on Wicked's recommendation, here's the sequence:

12 PM- 1 PM: E chord
1 PM- 2 PM: E7th
2PM- 3 PM: A maj.
3PM- 4 PM: A7
4PM- 5PM: E chord
5PM- 6PM: B7

At 6 PM, we pack up and go home or to our gigs, leaving the jam unresolved, and hence, reminding us of the frailties of human existence and a reason to get together again.

Believe me, this took a LOT of thought........ :D

Jam prep notes....

Jere:

Are you one of the those "teacher's union bosses" the California Exterminator (oops...sorry Tom Delay fans, or maybe that was a prophetic slip, since Tom may be spending some time off himself soon) keeps talking about? Hopefully we can celebrate the
election results.

Seriously, though, in order to avoid the endless blues jam syndrome, I suggest that all of us bring a list AND charts of Tele-appropriate instrumentals, i.e. Sleepwalk, Buckaroo, Nashville West, Orange Blossom Special, Walk Don't Run, Remington Ride, anything on Tailgate Troubador (someone call Greg V), Tales for a Rainy Decade. or quasi-breakdown vocal tunes, like Restless, Luxury Liner, That's Alright Mom, etc.

By the way, does anyone know Jerry Reed's The Claw? I'd like to see that one done.

We can also bring those pedals that have been sitting around unplayed, or those uninstalled pickups, etc., for a swap.

More suggestions requested.......

Hey Country Pickers...Don't Diss the Blues!

Blues = 3 chords (E preferred) x 3 lines.

Country = 3 chords (G preferred) x 4 lines.

Don't make me drive 500 miles with my Strat (gasp!) loaded with my "stealth" (under the pickup covers) Bardens (gasp! gasp!) and play 6 hours of blues, punctuated in the middle with "Hideaway" and "Tuf Enough" !!!!!

Been woodshedding at the many biker bars of North Central Arizona!!!!

Have a great time, guys.
